Cool tent. The used description says blemish

Cool tent. The used description says blemish. The whole sleve was sliced which made setting it up impossible. Not going to try the used option again.

    This tent is awesome!!

This tent is awesome!!! Super spacious a plenty of head room, as well as plenty of room for two queen air mattresses. The front porch is awesome for keeping miscellaneous stuff and for keeping the bugs out. Great ventilation even with the rain fly on, three of the four sides have zip windows and the whole rear wall is mesh.

OK but Ive had better tents

I bought this tent because I wanted a tent large enough to stand in that I could set up alone. Plus: I can set this up by myself without much difficulty. The center is tall enough for me to stand up (Im 55). The tub style floor does not leak as water spatters on the sides, which was an issue with tents that have seams where floor met sides. Theres plenty of room for one or two people plus stuff. Con 1: The screen section is useless for keeping anything dry in the rain because the screens are very slanted and obviously let water through. Pictures show the slant, so I expected this, but the issue is the screen section caused by the floor. The descriotion says the floor drains, and there is a mesh drain at the floor front, but water collects anyway. In a heavy downpour where rain was coming down so fast it couldnt flow away fast enough the water backed up, and I ended up with mud in the screen area. That was a major pain to clean up. (Thanks to the tub floor of the cabin section, none got into the tent.) Also, on the first use the floor of the screen area started to tear away from the tent body. I think that was caused by unlevel ground, but not many campsites have perfectly level ground. In short, I think the screen helps keep bugs out of the main tent but is otherwise pretty disappointing. Its a poor design, and weve had similar sized tents with much better screen areas. We have a good screen house, so I think we might have been better off without the tent screen section at all. Con 2: The dome poles dont fit quite where theyre supposed to. Minor but annoying. Con 3: While the tub floor in the cabin section is good for preventing leaks, the floor doesnt want to lie flat especially along the edges. I suspect this is inherent in tub style floors since they lack staking loops. All things considered, Im not sure we would buy this tent again. I would certainly shop for something with a more practical screen area or none at all. As it is, I decided to go back to using my 20 year old 5x7 dome tent for weekend trips by myself and use this only for longer trips or when my spouse is along.

    Camping fun

My wife and I love this tent. Says 6 man tent but I would not share with anyone but my wife. Water tight, and zip up or down windows are nice for ventilation or keeping heat in

Good tent, pros and cons to front porch

I haved used this tent on two camping trips of two nights each and like it. It rained both nights of the firstvtrip and everything stayed dry. Its easy to put up, even with novice Girl Scouts, and roomy inside. We fit 2 adults and 3 girls and gear in one, and maybe could have put another person in. I had a defect in my first tent upon first use, which replaced. The second tent bag was better... black nylon with an expandable gusset at the bottom that makes getting the tent back in the bag much easier. The first tent bag was green out of heavier backpack material wuth no gusset. Both tents were sent in a 5 week period, so I am surprised at the difference. The only love/hate thing about this tent is the front porch. It becomes a rain and debris collector in bad weather, but there is a mesh strip on the floor by the door where you can squeege water out and better the mess there than in the tent. The porch area does not have enough rainfly coverage to stay dry... if youre lucky, a portion near the msin body of the tent will stay dry. But this is what I expected so I am not disappointed.. The benefit of the porch is still there.. for buggy weather, as extra storage in good weather, and as an in-between area for shoes and dirt, doors left unzipped.

What a great tent! One of our camping trips with this ...

What a great tent! One of our camping trips with this tent was in Yosemite and it rained all day and night. Even though our tent stayed dry I would suggest purchasing some tarps just in case. After about 5 hours of being dumped on, I decided to throw the tarps over. Perfect for 2 adults, 2 small dogs and a queen size blow up mattress.

Well worth it! But bring your towels..

This tent lives up to our expectations! On our first primitive camping trip with this tent, we experienced 2.5 days of rain in 3 days. Overall and beforehand, I applied one layer of water seal to the exposed parts of the tent, anticipating occasional showers. We did not leak a single drop under heavy rainfall and slight wind! We had not even taken the time to seam seal before the rain picked up, so I was thoroughly surprised to find the whole tent, corner to corner, dry throughout our stay. The biggest downfall to this entire tent is the design of the covered awning. This awning fans out at the bottom, exposing almost 2 feet of uncovered screened tent above that is just waiting to get drenched. There is a netted gutter that makes major flooding within the porch section easier to manage, but we learned our lesson quickly and will be bringing more towels to mop up after rainstorms. Though we were a bit concerned about the rainfly providing enough privacy based on other reviews, we were surprised and thrilled to find that the rainfly provided excellent coverage, especially when tied down. Ventilation was perfect nearly 100% of the time, even in the sun. The design is great and is plenty of room for 2-3 people to comfortably spread out in. Overall, I am thrilled with this tent. I find it a little bizarre that did not consider a solution to the obvious flooding issue that happens in the front section. However, my girlfriend and I did find that, with careful attention to our zippers to prevent bugs, having the exposed area is well worth the occasional flooding cleanup for an option to a bug free experience eating and relaxing. Hopefully we will see a redesign by for the awning to better cover the front screened in area. Something as simple as a larger rainfly with tie-backs would be more than enough of a solution..

    Great tent, easy set up

Great tent, easy set up. However this would not be great for any colder conditions. The entire back wall is mesh from about 2 feet off the floor.

    Awesome design, untrustworthy manufacturing

We love to camp. As a working professional, I still take my family camping over 50 days of the year. We go on lengthy road trips, living in our tent the whole time. When we look for a tent, we look for our second home. I spent hours and hours researching our options within our budget. This tent appeared to be the best value. The reviews about its ability to handle rain was the real seller for me. I didnt expect the deficit in quality I found elsewhere. I received this tent brand new last weekend. I set it up in my yard to air out before we begin our first summer adventure. It looked awesome. We love the porch, and even though it was a hot day, this tent had excellent ventilation even with the rain fly on tight. It weather rain during the night without a drop of moisture on the inside. Perfect. We were getting very excited about our nomadic home. Then I took it down. And a the rain fly support pole broke. On the FIRST USE. Unacceptable. I buy tents, and make them last 8 years. I dont care what part of the tent it is. I dont care if its a tent or not. A product should NEVER break on the first use. used to be a representation of camping quality. REI has taken over, but I didnt pay attention. I stuck with what I trusted. We still love the rest of the tent. But, how can I sleep comfortably in a windstorm now? I have a family with me. How do I know another pole, or cord, or support structure isnt going to break down on the next several hundred uses? Im going to feel like Im gambling with my families safety. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY My first impressions of this tent? A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, working alone, who will be defeated by its enemies because of its lack of real lasting power. I could be wrong. I hope Im wrong. But, I no longer trust that truly represents high-quality camping gear. is shipping me free tent pole repair kits. I requested several, anticipating a recurring issue with these tent pole cords. If you buy this tent, it really is an awesome design and good for rain, but go ahead and buy a handful of tent cord repair kits to go with it. You will need them.
