Good Tent with a Major Flaw

Just got this and havent used it yet. Taking off one star right off the bat because, as other reviewers have mentioned, the back of the tent is mesh ONLY. If you look at the pictures, it appears there are two zippered windows and an enclosed back. However, that is definitely not the case. The tent is roomy and tall enough to be able to stand inside. Going camping in a couple of weeks and the temps are supposed to get down into the 40s at night. Im almost afraid to find out how cold this thing will get inside! please fix this major flaw! It just doesnt make sense.

    Close but no cigar.

For the money this is a lot of tent. must be discontinuing this, as its currently $105 for the 6 person, and $125 for the 8 person on their website. For our needs we were disappointed in this tent for several reasons. Ours leaked during a light rain. The floor had a seam that ran side to side towards the rear, and it looked to be compromised. advertises a 2 tablespoon water test that each tent is given. If its more than 2 its considered a failure. We had several tablespoons of water that needed monitoring throughout a light rain storm. The other reason was the door. We had a queen sized matress that had to be filled at the car. Once inflated, it wouldnt fit through the door. Maybe Im being unreasonable to think that a 6-8 person tent should have a larger opening. This was an after thought on our part when purchasing the tent, but had we know, wouldnt have selected this model. Another thing to note is that on the sides, where the screen tent meets the bottom of the actual tent, there are quarter sized holes, which let in insects and potentially rodents. The entire front screen is sealed other than these two spots. As others have noted. The screen front is only partially covered. In the event of rain its made to get wet, and drains out a mesh section along the bottom of the front screen doors. We used an REI nylon tarp over the top front of the screen, to water proof the rest of the porch. For the price its a very nice tent if you could live with the short comings. It has large windows, top venting, and sturdy fiberglass poles. Packs up easily, and if you get one without a flawed floor, should hold up to rainy weather. FWIW - Our NEW tent showed up previously used, with dirty floors, rocks, sand, and grass inside, and mud along the exterior sides, with the added bonus of a dirty pair of hiking socks in the main tent area. is great about replacing things, so this review doesnt reflect that.

A good tent for the price (it passed the heavy rain test)

Pros: The tent is quite light, easy to mount, and reasonable priced. Importantly, it withheld few days of storm and up to once inch of water on its first camping. It rained a lot once night, the ground was soaked in water (up to once inch at some point), but the tent resisted well, the inside remained completely dry. - Cons: The patio area is to small, it would benefit from another two additional feet. Honestly this is not an 8 persons tent; I would says 5 at best; they say 8 if you have 2 of them sleeping in the patio and none of the 8 people pt gear in the tent (just not reasonnable in my opinion...). Overall this is a decent tent for a family of 3-4 that will be ok with a simple tent.

By the 3rd time I could easily set it up by myself in 10 minutes

I took my 10 year old niece camping for 10 days using this tent for the first time. Traveling to different places we set up and took down the tent 3 times during the trip. By the 3rd time I could easily set it up by myself in 10 minutes. They designed the tote bag to expand in case you have a hard time getting it folded to its original size so thats a plus. Super roomy for 2 people and a queen size mattress not to mention you can stand up in it. We had some rain and had no water get insIde the tent. There are lots of screens for ventilation. We didnt have too much use for the screened room but is was a nice place to leave shoes and to dry out laundry and it certainly helped to keep the main tent area clean. I think the only changes I would make would be to add more storage pockets inside the tent and an opening to run an electrical cord through. Otherwise very satisfied.

Love the screened porch as well

This tent is HUGE! Enough for 2 queen air matresses with plenty of space left over at the foot of the beds and even an aisle in between. Love the screened porch as well.

Rain fly is only good for about 8 hours of steady rain

Rain fly is only good for about 8 hours of steady rain. After that, it gets a little leaky. Not bad though. I would suggest taking an extra tarp if the weather is looking unfavorable but even with it leaking a bit, it wasnt bad and it wasnt much getting through. Tent is spacious and I just LOVE the porch.
