For the money this is a lot of tent. must be discontinuing this, as its currently $105 for the 6 person, and $125 for the 8 person on their website.
For our needs we were disappointed in this tent for several reasons. Ours leaked during a light rain. The floor had a seam that ran side to side towards the rear, and it looked to be compromised. advertises a 2 tablespoon water test that each tent is given. If its more than 2 its considered a failure. We had several tablespoons of water that needed monitoring throughout a light rain storm.
The other reason was the door. We had a queen sized matress that had to be filled at the car. Once inflated, it wouldnt fit through the door. Maybe Im being unreasonable to think that a 6-8 person tent should have a larger opening. This was an after thought on our part when purchasing the tent, but had we know, wouldnt have selected this model.
Another thing to note is that on the sides, where the screen tent meets the bottom of the actual tent, there are quarter sized holes, which let in insects and potentially rodents. The entire front screen is sealed other than these two spots.
As others have noted. The screen front is only partially covered. In the event of rain its made to get wet, and drains out a mesh section along the bottom of the front screen doors. We used an REI nylon tarp over the top front of the screen, to water proof the rest of the porch.
For the price its a very nice tent if you could live with the short comings. It has large windows, top venting, and sturdy fiberglass poles. Packs up easily, and if you get one without a flawed floor, should hold up to rainy weather.
FWIW - Our NEW tent showed up previously used, with dirty floors, rocks, sand, and grass inside, and mud along the exterior sides, with the added bonus of a dirty pair of hiking socks in the main tent area. is great about replacing things, so this review doesnt reflect that.
Close but no cigar.
