Ive owned many tents in my life. The last one I had for a very long time and wasnt thinking when I chose this one. Here is what I missed. The entire top of the tent (under the fly) is mesh screen on the back quarter of the tent. This huge screen window does not have a zippered cover like the ones on the side. Without the zippered cover you can not close it to keep the dew (from the condensation of your respiration) on the inside of the rain fly from dripping in through the screen. You also cant have privacy without the fly due to no closing of that window. Also with such a large window, and no way to close it, the rain fly must dip quite low on the rear. Circulation was therefore not as good as other tents I have owned. But is still breaths pretty well. Being a , the build quality is as good as I expected and setup is easy. I actually got it back in the bag it came in twice fairly easily, although its now in a larger bag for less hassle. I never use the factory bags. Ours is the 8 person Evanston, not the 6. A 16X16 foot tarp fits perfectly under the whole thing, porch and all. No need to fold it or tuck away parts. This brings up another possible drawback. The porch not only stakes at the corners but also has a stake loop right in the center of the front. Having it staked tautly allows the three zippers of the porch entry to operate smoothly. However I always liked a small tarped area on the ground in front of my tents to remove shoes or stack gear on. I cant put that tarp under the front edge of the porch unless I put that center stake through it or leave that stake out.
Even with all my pickiness I have to say I still like this tent a lot. I am just pointing out the less than perfect aspects. I love the room and the center height. Its the largest tent for me yet. The porch is one more entry way that I can use to limit bugs and dirt inside the main tent. If I could close that back window and loose that center stake on the porch it would have 5 stars.
Good tent. Except for the part where the zippers inside the tent for the windows is broken. I zipped it down once and it completetly came off. Too late to return apparently even though its been 1 month. disappointing factor but other than that its a nice tent
I went camping for the first time in 20 years this past weekend, and was so glad I got this tent for the occasion. I used to camp regularly as a college student but my husband had never gone and so neither had our five year old son, so I wanted to make sure we were comfortable. This Evanston tent was perfect. I put it up fairly easily with minimal help from my husband in 20 minutes or so, having pitched only standard, small dome style tents in the past when I was camping solo. Breakdown was simple and quick. We didnt get to use the porch as a porch yet because there was a huge thunderstorm right after we put the tent up... the good news is that the tent withstood the storm no problem, and the porch was a fabulous mud room for our wet and dirty stuff, keeping our sleeping area dry and clean. I did purchase more heavy duty tent stakes than the ones that came with the tent, and also a good tent footprint for underneath. The only wetness that got in from a really heavy rainstorm (with the tent in an open field) I think blew under the rainfly and came in through the window mesh. It was just a few drops and Im sure if Id secured the rainfly better it could have been avoided (the rain wasnt even forecasted, I just threw the rainfly on to help keep the morning sun out when we woke up). Other friends camping with us did not have such good luck with their tents in the storm. This tent was perfect for our family of three to have ample space and keep our packs and toys for my son in the tent with us. You could comfortably sleep four and of course squeeze in the 6 they say it sleeps if you are all packed in like sardines. Im so glad we have this tent and cant wait to use it again.
This was exactly what we wanted!
Big space inside and a screened area at the front. The screened area was very nice to have. Allowed for a front room before getting into the tent. Provided storage and a place to change. It also allowed us to have the tent windows open all the time for air flow without worry of stuff getting in.
Setup was easy. Uses 3 poles and pegs, thats it thats all. Took us 7 minutes from unboxing to stepping inside, we timed it.
It rained twice in our first use and we had no issues with holes or anything of the sort. makes great tents, and this is no exception.
Would buy again
I wasnt aware of the 30-day window to return this item. Just used it for the first time over the weekend and missed the return window. Set-up was easy for two adults, however the creaking, fiberglass-breaking sound of two of the poles bending doesnt instill confidence in longevity. Day One weather was sunny and we were pleased with the tent. Roomy main area, and nice to have the screened porch. Night Two was rainy with occasional 20-mph gusts. The tent was bending at the poles; we lost confidence in the tent and stayed in a neighbors camper. The next mornings inspection showed leaking of about half a cup or so of water in two corners of the main area. For a bathtub-style floor, I expected no leaks. Wed had an 8x8 canopy over the screened porch, but still had plenty of water on the floor of the porch. I expected water in the porch, and I didnt think Id mind, but combine the water with the sand and dirt that accumulates and now its a mess. Id return this tent if I could. This tent was purchased to replace a 6-person tent that collapsed in the wind this Spring when wind snapped a fiberglass tent pole, which pierced and destroyed the tent material. Best of luck in your search.
Absolutely Perfect!! I love products so it was a no brainer to buy this tent. I especially enjoyed sitting in my tent watching the kids play in the rain and not getting wet. I used a queen size mattress and a small table for a light and there was enough room to walk around the other sides, plus have me and my partners bags. In the screened part (we called the patio) we each sat in a chair and a small table for our drinks etc. I fully recommend this tent and I would buy it again.
Excellent tent! My boyfriend and I purchased this tent with the intent of using it just for the two of us. It comfortably fits a queen air mattress with plenty of room of the sides for shoes, luggage, water bottles and flashlights. Our first night camping in our tent it poured for 12 hours and we stayed completely dry. After days of researching tents, I am glad we picked this one!!

Not perfect. But very good tent for a very good price.

You dont realize how nice the front screened area is, until you own one with it.

Love the front porch.
Love the front porch. It is a great way to keep the sand/dirt out of the main living space. Works well for us.
Easy to assemble
Lots of room. Easy to assemble. Have used twice. Very good product
Main floor leaked. Roomy tent. Avoid rainy, windy camping.
