    Mostly Great Product

An earlier reviewer had suggested some ways to alter this day bed to make it the best bed possible / we followed his instructions and are soooo satisfied! However, for 400, I shouldnt have to purchase the things I did. Mostly, it comes with uniformly sized screws / probably to keep the cost low / and you need ones that are 10/15mm shorter for where they point in on the bed. Acorn caps were another thing we purchased to cap off the screws and make SURE they dont ruin the bed we put in it. We did put down the cardboard to level/off the base (other wise, your bed will die very, very fast) and some ribbon to prevent it from sliding out the back. All in all, a good bed! However, it cant be given 5 stars because, imo, for 400, I shouldnt have to go hunt down different parts and pieces to make it useable.

    Beautiful

This is just what I was looking for and fits the room perfectly. I put it together myself and was not difficult.

    Classic daybed

Daybed is in play room for family to relax and watch tv as well as for visiting guests to crash on. Also ordered pop up trundle bed for when more than one guest comes or to make a king size bed.

Great Bed, if youre willing to fix some glaring design flaws

I had a hard time with rating this bed, because im very happy with the end result, but it was a bit of a journey and required some extra time, money and effort thrown into it. out of the box with zero modifications, Id give this bed a 3/star rating. maybe less. I gave it a 4/star, because it is a great bed. if you fix the errors with it. hence theres no way I can give 5/stars because thats perfect out of the box and this is not that. ASSEMBLY This bed, out of the box is very sturdy, very beautiful. assembly was for the most part straight forward and simple. if you have two people, this will go fast and smooth, I built it alone with no help (for my daughters room who was out of town), so there were a few tricky parts, but I managed. It ships to you in 3 boxes. 1 box with the bed frames (back center and two sides) along with the hardware, including the screws to mount the suspension deck to the rest of the frame. a 2nd box with the 4 wooden headposts (no hardware in this box) and a 3rd box with the suspension deck and the hardware to assemble it (remember the screws to attach the suspension deck to the frame are in the 1st box). To be clear, there were some mentions of the suspension deck having springs. no it does not. its just a standard hard/ tube frame, no springs (see pics). THE DESIGN FLAWS (yes, there are a few) First, there is about a 7/inch gap on the back of the frame just above the suspension deck. a thin mattress (8 or less) has a good chance of sliding through the frame out the back (a few reviews mentioned this). I used some 2 Solid Black Grosgrain Ribbon to act as a mattress catcher. it doesnt look bad and when the bed is put together with mattress, you never see it anyways. I also used the same Grosgrain Ribbon to add a little width to the suspension deck (on either end) to help support my daybed skirt. These are both minor issues and may or may not be a problem for all, but it was a fairly easy fix if needed. A second problem. the suspension deck. its rather odd, as it is not entirely flat. all along the middle there is a rather large bar that sticks out taller than the rods on either side (see pics). I can see this leaving some sort of crease or bump in any mattress placed on it after time. I solved this problem by placing a couple of pieces of cardboard from the shipping boxes on either side of the bar. a simple solution, but once again something I shouldnt have to fix at this price point. The third, and most severe flaw. the 8 screws (in box1) to attach the suspension deck to the rest of the frame. they are M6/90mm screws and they are far too long. using only hex nuts to secure them, leaving a long exposed screw pointing death to your mattress with sharp edges that is sure to tear straight through any mattress (or bedding) over time (see pics). I fixed this problem by acquiring eight M6/80mm screws and M6 Acorn Hex Cap Nuts (Steel, not Nylon!) to protect the ends from tearing the mattress. this made the screws the correct length and protected (I also used the same M6 Acorn nuts on the rest of the assembly. not required, but why not). All the other screws that came with the frame were fine, it was just those 8 screws that attach the suspension deck to the frame that were the problem. for 300, they should have included the correct screws. other people mentioned having their mattresses ruined, i will not have that problem with mine. As anyone may want to know, also the clearance from the floor to the bottom of the frame you would slide a trundle under is just shy of 14 inches. about 13 and 3/4 inch of clearance. Im very happy with this frame. sturdy and no squeaking. but only after some modifications out of the box with no changes, you will have problems!
