I am so glad I went with this! Was searching around for something Queen sized, can switch into a bed for guests and not super expensive. I love the look and its perfect for our guest area! Bonus, its an easy spot to hangout with the baby when its folded down!
Since its a fairly large piece of furniture, it takes a fair amount of time to do all of the things that are needed to put it together (as you would expect with any large piece of furniture). I found that I needed a screwdriver to hold some bolt receptacles in place to screw bolts into them. The need for a screwdriver wasnt mentioned in the instructions, but there is a slot for a screwdriver on the bolt receptacles, so it was implied.
Once put together, its a very nice looking and sturdy wood futon that switches between flat and upright fairly easily. The cushion is thick and sturdy. I chose to put a full-sized memory foam pad over it (covered by a full-sized blanket) to make it more comfortable.
But overall, its a very nice-looking and sturdy wood futon.
This futon was pretty easy to assemble even as an older person (60+). I did need some help for the last couple of steps just because the pieces were a bit bulky. I am pleased with the look and sturdiness of the frame - my 400lb boyfriend can sit on it without any creaking at all. I am slightly disappointed in the futon mattress. Although very comfortable, the fabric seams are not well sewn in places, and will definitely need some touch-up work. There are many stray strands of thread hanging that I needed to cut loose and there are a few apparent spots where the pieces of fabric are not well sewn together - it appears the machine missed up to 3/8 of seam in one or two places. This is my only complaint after well over a month of use. Otherwise it looks and performs well. It is fairly easy to go from the fold-out to upright position without assistance if you remember to pull out the bottom first and the mattress along with it about halfway down. Otherwise it can be a little difficult unless you have some assistance from a 2nd person.
I waited a year to write this review and can now confidently say that this was a great buy - excellent value. The couch was easy to assemble - I did it all on my own. It is sturdy and comfortable. We are using it as a couch and frequently also as a guest bed, turning the mattress regularly to keep it well-aired.
I thought this was easy to assemble, but i used real tools- you can get by with the allen wrench provided, but oh that would be slow! I was pleased with the way the futon looks, and it seems comfortable, but I have not slept on it.
This futon set looks great with my mission furniture and is so much more comfortable than my old traditional couch.
I gave it a 3 in ease of assembly because I ignorantly did it by myself.
Also, the ease of changing it from couch to bed is just fair.
I am happy with it.
I had this in my wishlist for 5 years! Finally bought it and it is exactly as pictured! Nice wood, thick heavy matress. Takes 2 people to assemble, and read the instructions carefully...actually its all pictures showing the process. I like it alot!
Needed help putting it together, but once done it was clear this was a good purchase. Not the easiest to raise and lower but a very comfy futon to be sure. The wood looks good and was delivered without any blemishes.

Futon workmanship
This futon was ok to assemble by my handy man husband. Although Im concerned with the way the tacking is pulling the material as shown in the video.

Great piece of furniture.
If I can put it together by myself at age 70, you can put it together. Solid, great looking and comfortable.
Good-looking, comfortable, sturdy-frame futon with slight fabric seam imperfection issues
