I didnt find the bench to be as difficult together as the previous reviews Ive read. However, it did arrive with a few cracks but they arent very noticeable. Overall, it is very cute and works well.
Pretty easy to put together, although some of the instructions could be more clearly depicted. As another reviewer said, putting the divider in required me to pre-drill two holes that really should have been there, but werent. Its no big deal if you have a drill, but could be a showstopper if not.
Once put together it looks great and seems very sturdy.

I am very pleased with this affordable bench! It took my husband about half an hour to assemble with me kibitzing in the background and holding things as needed. We did use wood glue on the dowels per someone elses recommendation and gave the bench 24 hours after initial set up before use. We found the provided soft close hinge for the lid to be too limiting as the lid would not open fully, so removed it after several days. At some point in the future we will probably purchase a better one and install it, since it is a gooddd idea. The hinge provided was just too short to allow full opening. The only other modifications will be felt feet on the bottom to provide easy sliding for cleaning purposes, and I did make a cushion for sitting comfort.
Everything came well labeled. The correct numbers of fasteners were in little bags and were labeled. An extra bag with an additional allen wrench and extra fasteners (1 of each) was included. The directions were pictorial, and after minor study my husband found them to be pretty clear. There were no issues with un-drilled pilot holes as reported by others. Were I to ever need another bench, I would not hesitate to purchase another one from this company.
