Screw holes were too small and practically had to be forced in first before screwing two pieces together. Took 3x as long to assemble than it should have
I needed a place to sit quickly in my small kitchen, if need be. It has served it's purpose numerous times. It was easy to put together, but the plugs provided to fill in and cover the screw holes were too big. Tried to tap several in with rubber mallet,but they popped out anyway. Didn't want to glue them in just in case the stool ever needs to be tightened. So, now I have a couple of plugs with a little flat top, and no screws hidden. Will try to buy some smaller ones at local Menards when I get a chance. The ones I already have are too small.
The stool seems to be well made, the wood is good quality and has a nice smooth finish to it. Assembly instructions are easy to follow and it goes together easily enough. I only have only two complaints. First is that the wrench provided needs to be much longer. The assembly screws are large, the pre-drilled holes are small, and it is difficult to get enough leverage to tighten the screws. I finally resorted to using a short piece of metal tubing as a cheater bar. Second is that it is very difficult to hold the round bottom cross members still while driving in the screws, because they keep wanting to spin. It would be much easier if the ends were square so they couldn't spin..
I like the chair's height and and it is sturdy. The instructions for putting it together were simple and they gave me all the tools needed. I just didn't like putting it together.
I bought this stool for my classroom 5 months ago, it got shakey, and there is no way to tighten it. The screws just go round and round. look for something better. When I saw all the reviews that said this information I figured I would be able to take care of it as I am very very handy, but get something better!

Hex screws are provided to secure the components, along with a small hex wrench. The screws are hard to line up properly, and can be very hard to turn with the provided wrench. The wrench is small and doesn't offer a lot of leverage.
The screws go in to pre-drilled holes into the end of dowels that hold the legs together.. The fit is very tight, which is good news in terms of strength. Just take care to line them up straight or you may get stuck essentially trying to augur out a new hole. The hardest part can be the final tightening which can be extremely hard. You can do two things that help. One (will be obvious) is to hold onto the dowel with one hand while you work the wrench with the other hand to stop the dowel from turning. Two, use your own hand held hex screw driver for a stronger grip. Or, use a lock wrench or vice grip wrench to hold and turn the provided hex wrench and it will go much easier with the extra leverage. Once together the stool feels and looks like it is extraordinarily sturdy.

Was too sturdy , couldn't sweep me off my feet as I tried to hang myself.
