Not an awful bed given the price however ours arrived with some damage due to the poor packing. Also had several bolts strip out with no extras. At the end of the day its a bunk bed for less than 200, so really cant complain all that much. Took about 2hrs solo would have been quicker with a 2nd set of hands. Holds things.
AWESOME!! I am rating it three stars for now, and will update once I get it put together. The product description says that the color is silver. It is primer gray. I can live with it, but it doesnt look how I thought it was going to. Thats why it gets three stars at this time. More info to come later.
Here is my update, and I have raised it to four stars. As I said, the color was a disappointment. I had a certain look for the room in mind when I purchased this, and the color does not contribute to that look. However, the bed frame, in terms of quality, is about what I expected for the price. I needed a basic bunk bed and that is what I got. At this point, it is not REAL sturdy. It shakes some when my nine year old daughter gets on or moves on the top bunk. It shakes more if I get on the top bunk. I am not a heavy person. I plan to go back around and tighten the bolts again to see if this helps ease that. One thing I do love about this bed, is the height of the top bunk. It seems shorter than most bunk beds. I have no trouble reaching and making the bed; and my daughter has plenty of room (with probably a foot to spare) to sit up in the bed. We have 8 foot ceilings. The height is one of the more attractive features for me. However, the bottom bunk could use about 6 more inches of headroom. I am five/foot/three and Ive conked my head a couple times before I got used to it. The ladder is a little hard on the feet. Ill probably purchase some cushioning for the rungs, if I can find some. My daughter has taken to stepping down onto the bottom bunk mattress, rather than using the ladder, for this very reason.
As far as putting it together, there are a LOT of parts, but overall, it was pretty easy. Three of us put the slats in and put their clips on so it went relatively quickly. At times, it will be more helpful to have another person helping so they can hold up parts and such, during assembly. Sometimes, it was a little difficult to get the bolt holes to align so that the bolts would go in correctly. This could affect the overall sturdiness of the bed, and probably did.
For the money, I recommend this product. If you want a fancy bed, pay the bigger bucks.
Beautiful and Sturdy. Awesome. Great price. It was kind of a pain to set up but thats fine. Its very sturdy and so worth the money. My daughter loves her new bed.
It works. As long as you remain patient this product is not difficult to put together, it just takes a little time. Its sturdy, and my daughters love it. Weve had no problems thus far.
Works well. This bed is totally worth the price. And an easy set up. Just make sure you pay attention to the directions ! Or things will be put on upside down ha.
Perfect. Upon receiving this package, I immediately knew that it was going to take some work. After all, other reviews put it at 2 hours for assembly (which is accurate to the instructions). Its a very heavy package so just have some help unless youre a stubborn single mom like me. I dragged it into the boys room and started it up.The instructions are accurate and clear, every object is labeled with a small and removable white sticker. I only needed assistance three times (to hold up the bars) so for the single assembler, this can be done alone with some patience.
Biggest tip is to not tighten the bolts until everything is in place. There were three holes that I couldnt match up on the top bunks rail. I left them since they were the bottom one and it seems sturdy. (Its an older kid sleeping on the top and hes adept at doing so without falling in the past.)
The whole bed seems sturdy in fact. Of course if you shake it, itll wobble a little, but all in all the bars under the mattress (while seeming flimsy) work well together. I took the advice of other reviews and used the cardboard of the box (THERE IS PLENTY) under the mattress to distribute the weight a little. A little bit of caution never hurts. Both boys (3 and 8) like being on the top bunk together and the bars havent bowed yet.
Planning on putting a few shelves up alongside it to give my oldest his own private space and when they are both older, the bottom can be removed to convert it into a loft. At least, thats what it seems like.
A solid purchase for my boys so far at a good price and I have no regrets.
