I would give the bed 5 stars if it was not for the poor packaging. We bought this for my son just before his 13th birthday and it was supposed to be delivered the weekend before he had all of his friends over. It was delivered on time, but the first shipment had a damaged frame. Had to send it back (first time having to use s customer service - and they were great!). This meant my son had to sleep on the floor for a couple of weeks while we waited for an exchange. The second one showed up - well, half of it did - on the day it was supposed to, but this one was also very damaged and had to be sent back. Finally on the 3rd try and 1 month later, we had all of the parts necessary to build the bed.
You will need a helper to build this bed - I did it myself and getting the mattress rack installed with one person was just stupid for me to do by myself. As I built it, I was a bit skeptical that it was going to be sturdy enough as it easily racked and shook significantly when even a small amount of force was put against it. With each component it got stiffer, and by the time I was done - it is one sturdy bed! My son loves it!
I will say that it is a big bed. Bigger than I expected - in a good way. The downside to that is that the bed blocks the light from my sons room light so it was tough to do homework on the desk at first. I bought some LED lights and stuck them to the frame just under the mattress and it turned out perfect.
Overall - a very good bed with poor packaging. Make sure you inspect the package while the driver is still there and reject it if it has damage. Be polite to the driver though - it was most likely not damaged by them and they have a difficult job to do. They are literally just the messenger in this case, so be firm but polite if there is damage and it will get taken care of.
This bed is perfect, just what my daughter wanted for her room, and it looks exactly like it does in the picture. It arrived on time and in excellent condition, no scrapes or nicks on the frame. Very solid and sturdy. I cant get over how large the desk area is, there is so much room!. I was hesitant to purchase this bed at first as my daughters room has 9 ceilings, but after reading multiple reviews from people saying it works OK in rooms with 9 ceilings I decided to to take the risk. I purchased a full size 6 Lucid memory foam mattress to go with it as several reviews recommended getting a mattress no taller than 6. The 6 mattress works great and my daughter can actually sit up in bed without hitting her head on the ceiling, she is on the shorter side though at only 52, so a taller person probably wouldnt be able to sit up if the ceilings are only 9. I was worried that a 6 mattress wouldnt provide enough support, but its just right and could easily accommodate a heavier person. Also, since the mattress is only 6 it leaves plenty of extra height/protection for the side rails. My only negative comment is that the bolts that came with it were of poor quality which made it a little more difficult to assemble. I would recommend purchasing better quality bolts from a hardware store if possible. It took almost 3 hours to put the bed together. Overall very much worth the effort and I will probably be purchasing a 2nd one for my sons room. Another design note, there is ladder access on both sides, however at the top the support rails are solid all the way around and when you climb up the ladder you have to climb over the support rails into the bed. Would be nice if there was an opening where the ladder goes up. I thought this was kind of awkward, but my daughter doesnt seem to mind.
dont be dumb and not look at the dimensions of this thing like i did. this thing is well made and awesome looking though. although its huge, it fits in my daughters room and maximizes the space available. save yourself the time and trouble and buy the memory foam mattress on here because its hard to find a full size one at retail stores.
The bed is GREAT. VERY sturdy. I bought it for my 18 year old 6 ft, not thin, but not chubby either, son. And it will hold up just fine! They instructions are good. It was fairly easy to put together. I would suggest next time for them to LABEL the hardware. They were on a card in plastic bubbles so it would have been easy to label them. It was not clear what hardware when with which piece unless you are an expert. In my opinion. The bed is awesome! I am so glad we got it!

Its pretty sturdy too, we both have been up there with no issues. Just know that the packaging is huge and heavy and the delivery guy will only deliver to your front door. Getting it in the house was hardest part.

My son likes his new bed. I however, dont like the ladder. The steps are narrow and hurt my feet as i go up. Assembly took a couple hours. Frame is thin walled so be careful if youre using power tools. This will be a pain to break down if we move.
This bed is great. Good quality, sturdy. Assemble the frame laying down, then pull it up. The rungs do hurt a bit, but the 10 yr old does not mind. I bought an 8 inch memory foam mattress and he loves it.
This bed arrived in 2 huge boxes, probably 150 pounds each. We paid the delivery guy 20 bucks to carry it upstairs to our apartment.
Im a 55 average size woman and i set this bed up myself, ( husband working, me being impatient). Granted it took me 5 hours. Also because I wasted time installing one of the parts backwards. Just a tip. .. if it says front . It means front.
I dont recommend doing it solo, but 2 people can easy get it done in 2 to 3 hours.
My 8 year old son loves the bed. Its big and sturdy and attractive looking. The work bench is huge. Great buy!
