I got this bed as an early Christmas present. Being too old for my princess palace bed, after I looked around some, I decided on this loft bed.
The shipping was faster than expected, and the box was a little torn, but that was expected. Once we opened the box, we saw the wood was just as expected, the same color brown as in the picture, maybe a little nicer looking. The instructions seemed to be pretty clear, and we were able to construct it (with 3 people) in about 2 to 3 hours. the ladder was sturdy, and when I got up it didnt wobble at all, or I couldnt feel it wobbling AT ALL, which was surprising, since there was about 80 pounds total on the bed, I THINK. anyways, there was the mattress, me, blankets, and a pile of stuffed animals. I could sit up in it, and the area below the bed provided lots of room, and hanging sheets around the bottom part provided a hideout to do homework, journal, and just self/relax time. There was no paint smell and it smelled like nice pure wood, exactly what it was.
I ended up buying the white/pink loft bed because, while looking for other options, this came up as a crawler and my 5 year old spotted it. It isnt very clear from the imagery, but anything that doesnt have a pocket has to be tied to the metal frame of the loft bed. It isnt too tedious of a task, but it is something that I wish I had known before purchasing. There is a wide selection of these curtains, and at their current price I hope to pick up another set for x/mas. The only issue, again, is the removal of existing and then installation of new curtains. Not a big deal, but I have difficulties tying knots/bows using the string sewn into the curtains.
Solid, sturdy, looks great, and a very reasonable price. When one of the pieces of wood was dented by UPS in shipping, Modern Spaces shipped out a replacement piece free of charge even though they were not at fault. Great customer service and a great bed!
Bed received in damaged condition. Someone in the factory / warehouse must have used those metal bands for a pallet of these beds. Because the box had three indentations on the side. The band cut into the front support post for the bed. The Allen wrench tool supplied stripped out after the left side of the bed was built. Boards will have cracks, our bed had 5 or 6 visible cracks.
I need to find the claims paper work so I can get a new board D I believe.
Bought these to go on a basic wooden bunk bed, not brand. Was concerned that the fasteners would not work with our brand bed. However, the large panels come with long enough ties (5 or 6 inches) to fasten around the wood slats. The large panels work quite well! The small panels did not work as well. They fold over the top rail and attach with velcro. On the plus side, the squares on the small panels are pockets, which is a neat place for kids to hide treasures. On the down side, the small panels dont attach well to a wood bed, and even if they did, the velcro would not hold strongly enough to put anything substantial in the pockets. If I can figure out a safe way to attach the small panels, they will be a nice addition. In the meantime, the large panels work great and really made my daughters happy. As for the quality of the material, it is on the thin side, but quite adequate. We havent had any rips in more than a month of use. The product is much better quality than most of the big name princess stuff you can buy. Overall satisfied.
The straps that tie the curtain to the bed are very thin / my son broke them after a month. But I like the idea of them / my kids share a room and the curtain/loft bed set up gives them some space that feels a bit private.
We purchased these bed/curtains to turn our three yr old granddaughters new Junior Loft Bed into a dream/castle, and thats exactly what they did! She now has her very own castle, which is a necessity for any little princess! The curtains came exactly as described, and fit on her Junior Loft Bed perfectly! The small pockets added in areas around the bed railing are an added bonus. She loves putting her tiny treasures in them for safe/keeping. I will say that I think the curtains are a bit pricey though. I doubt seriously they cost anywhere near the amount we paid for them for the company to produce. However I searched high and low, and the price I paid here was the same price I found for these curtains everywhere I found them, so I dont think there was a better deal on them to be had. And in the long run, considering the countless hours our little granddaughter spends dressed up in her princess dresses and playing in her very own castle, Id have to say these curtains were most definitely worth the price. So that in itself earned them 5 Stars.
