I like the simple look of the bed frame- its beautiful! Easy to assemble too. However, it is SO noisy. Every time I move while sleeping I can hear the bed frame shifting a little. I would much rather it be completely silent when I toss and turn, and other reviewers had said it is quiet.
I snored on this bed frame way too long. I considered going the route of something cheaper. Something made of some aluminum steel alloy made of exported recyclables and imported back from China out of a sweatshop producing a large carbon footprint making its way over in a giant oil guzzling ship definitely was not worth the $100 dollars Id save. Much less the time it wouldve painstaking took me to blister up my fingers assembling it, with more than likely broken grammar instructions.
No, I didnt go the route of a highly flammable chemical ridden dyed emerald green velvet tufted headboard and frame; also imported from overseas.
I went with highly sustainable Appalachian poplar wood bed frame, the Nomad model.
I took the few minutes, multi-tasking upon my ivory Koehler throne watching the assembly video provided by. It was not necessary, as the instructions are detailed enough for two pages, not even a Reddit user would give it a TLDR downvote rating.
The box itself is elongated and not so wide it is an awkward shape to try an carry. Its quite manageable to lift or even drag by the plastic straps wrapped around the box. The pack was shrink wrapped and laid out together as if a Tetris wizard or master of geometry was hired to engineer the boxing of this frame. I unboxed the very efficiently packed pieces. Nothing was broken or missing.
I put the timer on and laid out the basic placement of each piece of the frame. After attaching the 8 screws for the ends and legs, I then hand tightened the rails, followed by a few cranks with the provided s-shaped Allen wrench. The wrench included makes it real easy and wont wear out your fingers.
Assembly and laying out slats only took me 25 minutes. I then spent around the same amount of time finishing the wood with a beeswax, helping bring out the natural grains of the wood but not darkening it too much.
With my foam mattress, the top of my bed sits right at my hip. I am 58 and I can easily just roll in and out.
I found this company by searching for bedroom activity friendly bed frames and then with the addition it is definitely caught my attention. As I am also , I wanted to support the dying industry of our nation. As I also do my best to maintain a sustainable eco-friendly lifestyle, seeing they use very renewable poplar wood from the area they are located was the nail in the coffin for me.
Im very happy I chose this company amongst the imported garbage flooded marketplace. I chose to have it delivered on Friday as all my orders are made at once and was able to receive almost everything at once or within a few hours from each other.
If I really needed something same day or by the next that badly, I can always just head to my local store.
We just moved into a new house and needed a new guest bed. I looked in several stores and online but everything I found was either way overpriced or was made from particle board...or both! I opened the box and thought Oh no, flashbacks!. But I took a few minutes to lay out all the pieces. I neatly stacked all of the identical pieces. Then I read the directions. I quickly realized that the directions were in ENGLISH...I mean really! No typos, everything was clear, the drawings were detailed and idiot-proof. I assembled the bed all by myself in about 45 minutes. I say all by myself b/c I thought for sure I would need my wife to hold a piece while I bolted it in or something. Nope. It became very clear to me that whoever wrote the instructions must have actually assembled this bed b/c the instructions were that good. The bed is VERY sturdy. It doesnt squeak AT ALL. I have a memory foam mattress on it and the bed is super comfy. If I ever meet the person who designed this bed and who wrote the directions, I will definitely buy them a drink! Well done!
I got two of these. One with headboard one without. They are very minimal. Very well made, you do have to assemble yourself, they ship in a box. They are made iby a small company located in Georgia, USA. the poplar is sustainably sourced from a farm in Virginia. The design is sort of like but I think much nicer, and better quality. Ships very quickly. Affordable. I looked for a long time trying to find a simple bed. I wanted a bed with four legs, rather than most beds now have legs also down the center, not sure why that is. A bed only needs four legs if its engineered properly. I would think. For the price this bed is perfect. I suggest getting the headboard. With horizontal slats. And the longer leg option.
It took me and my girlfriend about 40 minutes to put this together; I spent about 15-20 minutes just reading the instructions constantly to make sure I didnt mess up the 4-5 steps, so if youre good at putting things together in general... this might take you less time. I think if I put it together again itd take me like 20 minutes tops.
The bed frame is solid. Not wobbly at all and NO SQUEAKING. Maybe the most minor of wood creak if you really dig into the bed hard and wiggle, but that s it.
I had a box spring before this, so since this has no springs the motion isolation is much much better. Not irritated by my girlfriend turning over in the night.
There is some minor wood color issues. It would certainly be nicer if they sorted the wood by coloration, but most of the darker pieces were the platform planks that hold the bed. But overall I like it, it feels really authentic looking.
Ive only had this frame for 1 day now, so if my opinion changes Ill update this review. But as of right now its the best money Ive spent in a long time.
Ive edited this post to include photos of my bed fully-dressed. Im completely in love with her!! Ill likely purchase another to go in the guest room. Unprecedented quality. This is the first time in my life that I make my bed the moment I get out of it.
This bed is amazing!! While its true that there are many machine marks on the wood and some pieces are a bit chewed up, this is probably the sturdiest piece of furniture that I own!!
It was fun to finish, I used trans tint wood dye and polyurethane.
We put it together last night. Some of the dowels were a little misaligned, but we used a rubber mallet (with a couple of folded painters cloths folded, held over the frame to keep from scuffing the wood) which worked pretty well. All things considered, it was fairly easy to assemble for two adults. I couldnt do it myself bc Im only 53 and the headboard is basically as tall as me. I assembled the headboard myself but attaching the legs is easiest when the headboard is standing on its side. Im simply too short to have any kind of leverage in this position.
Once everything was assembled, we were both pretty impressed by the results.
We didnt know if the bed would be tall enough without a box spring. We bought a purple premier mattress which is plenty tall, I wish the headboard was a little taller, you can barely see it with the mattress in place.
I also purchased the rolling storage drawers. Im not sure if I will finish them to match, or if I will finish them in a contrasting color.
Pros: Sturdy, value for the money, fully customizable, easy to assemble, simple sleek lines.
Cons: machine marks and some small splits, heavy box (would be great if it shipped in 2 boxes), would have like more visible grain in the all the parts that are visible once assembled.
Bottom line: would (and probably will) purchase again, would recommend.
Solid wood construction with careful attention to dowels jutting out from wood for connecting the bed together. One of the four sideboards which hold the slats was cracked. No problem with this company because they have amazing customer service. Within a day I was given a tracking number for the replacement which was on its way the same day. This is the best company I have bought from in many years. 100 percent recommend purchasing this bed.

Solid bed frame, easy to put together, no squeaking

They dont make furniture like this anymore!!!
