We bought this in May 2016 and have used it a lot in our guest room. It looks great and is sturdy enough for an adult. It's comfortable for kids as well as adults.
We were very pleased. I think the bed itself could have been lower since the trundle was not included but had to be purchased separately. It took about 3 hours to assemble both beds and the instructions were super clear. The only problem we had was with the bunk bed side supports (piece 7) because the supports were not pre-drilled so we just left them off. Did not need any other slats, the ones included worked just fine.
Bunk beds don't look like picture at all. 7 pieces of wood came damaged and sticky. Designed poorly. Not designed for adults as advertised. Top bunk has a 150lb restriction which isn't mentioned in ad. It's creaky and we don't really trust it. The underbed dresser was not included which is a big disappointment. It said no trundle (which we thought meant the mattress) but never stated no droors. Ordered specifically with the dresser in mind. All around disappointed. Way overpriced for the quality and condition it came in. Kind of hard to put together. Some holes needed to be drilled. Needed 2-3 people just to assemble. I would love to return but too much of a hassel and we threw the box away. Would NOT order again! Had problems with shipping as well. All around was a pretty horrible experience.
After two weeks of waiting finally got the bed, our new queen mattress fit perfectly, the top is a TEIN XL!!! A regular twin will NOT fit again it will NOT fit, the twin xl is the same length as the queen. Overall I'm happy with the purchase, there is a ton of storage underneath for all of my daughters toys. No issues with shipping, no damaged items. It was actually delivered 4 hours before the scheduled delivery so it was nice to put it together earlier in the day. If you are looking for a twin XL over a queen this is it, the only complaint I have is that it is rather high off the ground if you do not buy the trundle, but the storage space underneath is great!
We bought this for our cabin. We love it, it sleeps 2 adults and a child great. We get many compliments on it. It was a bit of set-up, took 3 grown men a few hours to get it all set up. We wanted 2 of them, but had some major issues with shipping (that's a long story) but once we finally got this piece we were happy to have it!
This is a great bed and perfect for my 9 and 5 year old who have to share a room. Bed is sturdy and comfortable! I will say that the bottom bed is rather high off the ground! We didn't go with adding the trundle so there's great storage space under the bed but not good for a small child, luckily my daughter is tall. Also since it's so high off the ground you don't get a lot of sitting up space on the bottom, if any at all. Those things don't bother me, I am very happy with my purchase! I bought the twin over queen and the trundle in oak. Very pleasantly surprised by the quality and sturdiness of the bed. The bed is solid wood, except for the mattress slats, which are plywood. Instructions were simple and easy to understand. The bed went together easily, but best put together with two people. It will cut your time substantially. All the hardware was included and very clearly labeled in separate sealed envelopes. Recommend you open an envelope only as you need it and not before. I'm not a wood expert, so I don't know the type of wood, but it is very light in weight. Much lighter than oak or pine. As a DIY bed, the screw heads are all exposed, even though they are a nice shade to match the bed, they definitely stand out and show it is a put together at home bed. That's the only reason I rated it 4 stars and not 5.
I put together the bed with glue on every connection and every screw. If you add a little glue to the screws, they will not work loose as the bed is used, particularly if there are some big boys, or girls in your family. The bed is amazingly solid. I initially entertained an idea to reinforce the supports of the top bunks, since they only rate the bunk to 150 pounds, but after putting the bed together with glue, I am not worried at all and will not reinforce the bed. WARNING. If you follow my lead and put the bed together with a good wood glue, you will need a saw to move it or take it apart, you will ruin the bed. Just saying.....
I was reluctant to buy furniture online, which I have never done, but I am glad I did. Twin over queen bunk beds are hard to find and this one is not only affordable but is of good quality. I would recommend it.
For some reason I was not able to find the assembling instructions in either of the two boxes it was delivered in. I looked through everything but still couldn't find it. Fortunately I was able to download a copy online. doesn't allow third party links so just google the bed's name and you'll find it. My brother and I assembled the bed together and it took us a almost two hours, which includes taking everything out and cleaning up. Overall it's not more or less than putting together any modern furniture.
Please keep in mind that it is recommended to get bunkie boards which will cost extra.

Update: We have had this bed for one year now and we still like it. However, one thing I didn't mention in my initial review was that if any movements from either top or bottom will be felt by the other. I haven't slept on a bunk bed since I was a young child so I don't know if this is the norm or not.
This was the perfect solution for our condo. It looked great and arrived in perfect condition. The hex wrench wore down before I finished tightening all the bolts so I had to locate a replacement. I had all the necessary parts for assembly. The first stage of assembly required my wife's assistance, but the remaining assembly was easy. Instructions were very clear.

This is a great bed and perfect for my 9 and 5 year old who have to share a room. Bed is sturdy and comfortable! I will say that the bottom bed is rather high off the ground! We didn't go with adding the trundle so there's great storage space under the bed but not good for a small child, luckily my daughter is tall.
