As other reviewers have noted the bed is heavy and seemingly well constructed. But the platform on which the mattress rests is made of hollow 5/8 cross bars and one 1/4 center support. The cross bars are welded to the bed frame at only two spots. The 1/4 center support has correspondingly small welds. We bought two beds for our sons a few years ago. They are now 12 and 15; 90 and 135 pounds respectively. Some welds on the cross bars have come undone and one cross bar snapped in one bed. The support system allows too much flexing that overtime will simply fatigue the welds and they give out. This can happen when a kid just tosses and turns during the night. The rest of the bed components are as good as new. Given that we had the same problem with both beds we have, this seems more of a design problem than a single bed defect, in my opinion.
Purchased this for our almost 10 year old son - it's turned out to be a great purchase. The desk is a great size to do school work (since he's working online at home many days due to COVID). You won't be disappointed.
It is difficult to put together with only 2 adults. Three adults would be ideal!
This bed was a Christmas gift for my 12 year old son along with an entire room makeover. The bed looks awesome! As other reviews have pointed out, assembly will require 2 people. The assembly is straight forward though and took about an hour. The bed is heavy! Just to emphasize the point, let me repeat that. The bed is HEAVY! It comes in two LARGE boxes with a combined weight of ~250lbs. I researched other loft beds before purchasing this one and a flaw that many of them have is that they wiggle a little. This bed on the other hand is rock solid.
Also, we only have 8ft ceilings but my son still has enough room to sit up, and we even used a 10 inch mattress. I climbed up to test it and I can sit up too, and I'm 6'2. I only have about 5 inches before my head is too close to the ceiling, but I can sit up.
We added two night stands under the desk along with the some LEDs. You'll need a lighting source for the desk as it's dark under there after you put the mattress on. We used LEDs along with Eshine under cabinet light strips. My son loves this loft bed and his new room!
Great bed. Powell and Linon customer service representative was capable and committed to helping the customer. Unfortunately shipping was a major pain. I will never buy anything from the CYMAX drop ship company again. The bed was exactly what we wanted so, despite the hassle, we bought an identical bed through CETA. This comes in 2 cartons, oversized and heavy. The delivery people grumble the whole time they drop it off. Make sure you have 2 different cartons. You need at least 2 people to put it together. The process is not complex, just heavy. But after all of the trouble, you have very sturdy loft bed that will last generations
Bought 2 of these beds for our 2 kids. VERY sturdy, holds up to 300lbs! Fit both mom and dad on short ceilings. One of the bed came damaged with deep scratches. The instructions are a nightmare! No descriptions on what to use and how. So keep your patience. No squeaking yet but we are not worried about it.

My son loves his bed. Worth the price for sure
My son is six feet tall and he loves it. Very sturdy. Easy to put together, but will need a third, or forth person to complete safely.
