These are good containers. I do not recommend their use for shipping. I used them as luggage and have tried to mail them. They break when abused. For stacking in storage they are great.
We really like these containers as they have a water/proof seal and we feel comfortable putting items in and storing in our basement that is a little damp.
These are excellent. Airtight, not too much tapering, made to stack, and easy to see through. Im using them to store everything from photos to clothing to valuables I want to remain clean. Throw in some silica and and oxy/sorb packets for extra protection.
When ordering through , my shipment arrived undamaged. When I ordered directly from the site, three lids arrived broken, but they quickly replaced them free of charge. Most recently Ive order from the Container Store due to lower prices and in several orders, none have arrived damaged.

These are still the very best storage bins. Their quality is unsurpassed and they even survived a long distance moved completely unscathed. As mentioned previously, I often opt to order from the Container Store where its easier to order individual pieces and various sizes. I find them incredibly useful for storing clothing made from animal fiberslike silk and woolto protect them from moths and beetles. Throw in silica and a lavender or cedar sachet and store year round. Theyll do just as well in closets as they will in damp basements.
I love these containers because they are the perfect size. Although Id like to put everything into one container, with the larger containers they would often become too heavy and awkward to move around, carry up the stairs, fit into organizing space, etc. These are spacious enough to fit a good amount of things, but keep you from overdoing it in one box. I also love their feature/ no rain or bugs or animals will get in this box. And lastly, I like that they are clear, so you can see what is in them. I like to label boxes, but depending on where you put them or how you place them in shelving, you cant always read or find the label. With these the contents are visible, so have an idea of what is in them at first glance. These are a little pricier, but they are definitely a better quality and worth it.
I needed more storage space as I live in a small house. The only space left for storage was the damp dirt crawl space. These boxes allow me to safely store items without any worry of damage.
The boxes stack well on one another. Not sure how long the foam ring that seals the boxes will last but it looks pretty solid.
Some people have reported the boxes are fragile and easily broken. It wasnt until I went to use the last box that i discovered that the last box was cracked. I am guessing that the shipping box may have been dropped on its corner at one point during shipping. I called and explained the situation. I had already filled 5 of them and wasnt thrilled with the idea of emptying them and then shipping them all back for replacement. They made things simple. They sent me anther set of 6 free of charge and told me take one out of the new shipment and replace it with broken one and then ship that set of 6 back. No charge for the return shipment. It made it so easy.
The plastic that boxes are made appears to be strong, but is not overly flexible. I assume that if I handle them properly and dont drop on the corner them that they should last a long time.
I am planning to order some more but in a different size.
