Good solid bed, but the design has a couple of items Id like to mention that keep it from being perfect. First and most obvious (even from the photo) you cant open the drawers at the head of the bed if you have a nightstand. I got the optional headboard shelf unit, which helped with that BUT, it doesnt attach to this unit, and therefore bangs around a lot. The worst part is the IMPOSSIBLE way to get the fitted sheet on it without wrecking your hands. You need a foundation on this thing. Sure, they sell one for $200 more. But if youre planning on putting your mattress on the built-in foundation, youre taking your knuckles in your hands. LOL. When you put on the regular sheet, youll knuckle-down again. Its a drop of just a few inches, but enough to qualify as a bad design.
Next, when youre walking around the bed, youre going to smack your knees. The corners stick way out past the mattress, and it will happen. My wife was complaining about it, so after 2 years together, we switched sides. Then I started smacking my knees. So I believe her. And I had to admit it! The funny thing is that neither of us are using any of the drawers, which would be caught in the bedspread anyway.
Pretty happy with my purchase. Construction is definitely a two person job. The drawers dont seem to close flush against the rest of the bed, and the wooden slats seem quite flimsy. Two of the slats had cracks in them, and look like they will need to be replaced. Overall Im content, this seems like a good bed for the price, and the extra storage is a big bonus.
If you know how to read and follow direction then it is easy to put together.
I dont much construction skills but I was able to put it together with no problem.
Check and make sure you receive all the parts.
amazing bed beefed up frame by screwing all the support boards to the bed been moved twice and held up great such a space saver and quality product for a great price
This is a good bed and assembly is not too tough. Unless you are the Hulk it will take two persons to move the boxes from the delivery point (front door) to the assembly point (bedroom). It is important to read the review by Matthew C. Ziegler on July 4, 2010. His comments kept me from heartache, especially buying shorter screws than those sent with the unit. On the down side, only two boxes of the three arrived first. The third came two days later. One of the boxes that arrived first contained the drawers so I assembled them first. Please keep in mind that the drawer sides and back are made of soft wood. My specific recommendations are this:
1. I would suggest inserting the cams for the drawer fronts from the outside rather than from the inside as the diagram shows. You can do one as a trial. Insert the cam from the inside and look at how the drawer will look when pulled out.
2. Be careful when attaching the drawer rails to the two interior support. The holes in the supports are for rails on both sides. I screwed one rail in too far and it prevented the rail on the other side from being attached sufficiently. I had to drill an additional hole to attached the rail completely.
3. Once the frame and supports are assembled (but before the slats are applied), put the drawers in and ensure that the rails stay in the tracks when open and closed. If they do not it could mean that the frame is out of alignment. You can move/adjust the frame slightly to address this.
4. I used a roll of rubber door/window insulation in the rail opening for the bed slats. This will keep the slats from rattling back and forth.
5. Since the slats are not finished and a mattress will sit on them I used the plastic from the new mattress I purchased as a liner between the slats and the mattress.
On to customer service. I would rate it as wonderful. When my drawer rail came out of the support I needed an additional rail support and screws. I called customer support. They sent me the needed parts in due order and I completed the job. The assembly took five days in total to complete (I was interrupted by episodes of Scorpion and The Big Bang Theory). Continuous time is approximately 4-5 hours.
All in all, if you follow the advice of Mr. Ziegler and the comments above you will have a sturdy enjoyable bed.
OK, so this isnt IKIA but for the money its very well built and pretty easy to put together. It looks good and mainly it does not Feel cheep, no wobbling and drawers slide easily and stay where they should.

Decent bed. Slats fall out of the ends, and should be a way to secure them better. Overall good for the $ though.

Fair product. Two-man construction necessary.

even for neophytes like my Husband and I
It worked effectively and never had any issues. Construction was fairly straightforward, even for neophytes like my Husband and I.
However very easy directions, well made and has immense storage capacity
The drawers had to be re-inforced with secondary screws and glue. However very easy directions, well made and has immense storage capacity!
