I ordered this item based on the positive reviews and it was shipped for free via Prime.
When i received it, I was very hesitant, and seriously considered sending it backthe box it came in didnt look like much and I had serious second thoughts
However, once i opened the box and started assembling it, my confidence quickly grew.
This item is easily assembled, sturdy as any bunk bed ive ever seen and the overall quality is very good.
Needless to say, Im pleasantly surprised and happy with this purchase.
If you are looking for an economical bunk bed, buy this oneyou wont be disappointed.
Great bed for the price, I was really impressed. Not too hard to put together, it did take some elbow grease, and a couple hours, but following the instructions carefully and it was pretty much step by step. I read some reviews where people had done things, so the ladder didnt line up / I didnt have that problem, you just have to follow the instructions carefully.
Its very sturdy, nice looking, and all around a great edition to our sons room.
One note: careful to buy thin mattresses, 6 or so. We had bought thicker ones, because they last longer, but on the top bunk, the about as tall as the rail guard, rendering it useless, and dangerous. So we had to go back and get thinner mattresses. Not the beds fault though, it even says on a sticker on the bed use with 6 mattresses.
If it lasts a couple years, with no issues, definitely 5 stars.
Update 1/15/2014: I had to update this. This is a great bed, very sturdy, looks good, and we havent had any issues with it. Getting the thinner mattress on top really did help, it was pretty much unusable at first, and now its just fine, our son sleeps up there. The bottom bunk is a little high because have the thick mattress, but thats our fault. The bed has been great!

The lower end bunk bed sets look cheap, not sturdy. Dont buy. Higher end sets may be nice but expensive(500/800+). This set delivers, esp. at price (200/300 range, best buy)!
I purchased 2 sets if these beds for a beach house bunk room for the kids their cousins. They look great and pushed together in a t pe they make a giant fort for the kids. the kids love them. The beds arrived on time, without damage. Assembly was easy, but it did take time. I definitely recommend having a drill on hand. Assembly with just the wrench provided would have for an unpleasant experience. The beds did not smell. I slept in a bottom bunk one night and the bed was sturdy. There were lots of s provided.
Read through the reviews both positive and negative / the newest leaning more positive with amount of time needed to put together the only issue. Bed arrived in 1 box very quickly / pieces were clearly labeled and no issues with needing to re/drill any holes for alignment. Took my time and the bed went together easily. Solid wood and once together, the bunks work great.

Get metric allen wrench before starting, the one provided wore down and became tedious to use.

I read reviews before ordering and was afraid of the quality when I made the purchse. I placed the order and waited, and received the package fast. I place the item down in my house and opened the top, directions right there. Started organizing the pieces, all clearly marked and made of real or solid wood. huu. some reviews stated particle board, not in mine. the only plywood are the mattress supports. The parts fit amingly well, and its is very sturdy. I love the color.
My only concern/ and really a complaint, but I would like some wall bracket or directions on how to attach to wall. Very minor. People at Home Depot helped me with that.
so far we are very happy with this bunk bed. it shipped pretty fast which was great. it actaully arrived earlier then we expected. as far as putting it together, it was pretty simple. my husband and i put it together in 2hr and 45 min. that includes our kids coming into the room to express their excitement and offer to help out. all we needed was an allen key and a phillips screwdriver. my kids are super happy with it. it seems pretty sturdy. overall, we are happy with our purchase. good price. the only reason why i gave it 4 stars and not 5 is bc we have only had it for 2 days so i dont know how it will hold up.

Bad product
The long boards that hold up the mattress are falling off. They are too short witch can cause a saftey risk for my children
