We were looking for a versatile bed to transition our 3 year old out of his toddler bed. The bed arrived in good condition despite how heavy it wasvery well packaged and had no damaged parts even though the outside cardboard packaging was a bit beat up. The bed itself goes together pretty well and the instructions were straight forward. The drawers probably took more time to put together than the bed itself. Fits a foam mattress we purchased for it perfectly and looks great. Drawers use plastic rails, so could imagine they may wear down a bit over time, but we plan to use the drawers largely for storage rather than every day use. Height of the bed is great for kids
I dont know if this was hard to put together because my husband put it together when I wasnt home, but as far as looks go and and sturdiness, I am pleased with it. We did put a piece of plywood underneath for extra support.
Ive had this bed for almost 3 years now, and it has held up well. It was bought for my 5 yr old son who is pretty hyper and has lasted 2 moves (and many re-arranges) with only minor wear. Just recently one of the wood panels that hold up the mattress boards came off. I just had to screw it back on and it was fine. The wood isnt high quality, but if youre looking for an affordable, simple piece it works nicely.
Ive had this bed for over a year now and I think its awsome and my10 yr old son loves it. Bottom of drawers look/are a lil weak so, my husband siliconed the 4 edges on the inside and have never had a problem with them.
I consider this Walmart quality bed. It looks fine but you can tell its not a well crafted bed. You get what you pay for at $200 and I wont pay more. The drawer front panels were slightly curved so the corners would stick out a bit. And the corners were pointy where you can actually scratch yourself if you rubbed your leg against it (i did). It should have been rounded especially since this is a childrens bed. Other than that, it looks decent and has 3 drawers for clothes.
So this is a pressboard bed and its a lot of work to assemble, but for our needs, its just the right thing.
This will go in my sons basement room, and I got two of them. It took me about three hours to assemble each one. I do think that the instructions were very good, and have no problem with all that, but there are hundreds of pieces if you count all the screws, and part of why we got the storage beds is that its a tight space. So it was a little hard to maneuver the heavy bed around as I was putting it together.
I agree with what others have said:
1. Its all machined well, so that the pieces fit together as intended.
2. The bed slats run the long way, and are splintery plywood, and seem annoying on those levels, but they also seem to be functional.
3. The drawers glide smoothly, but the bottoms of the drawers are basically cardboard, so they cant hold heavy things. Ill add that the sides of the drawers are very lightweight, almost like balsa, so strange that way.
FWIW we are using it with box springs, just because we had them already. This makes the bed high, but we are tall (thus the need for the XL twin), and I think it will mitigate the issue of the weird slats.
One thing Id change is that the bed is a little wider than the mattress. I think it should be snugger. So you can see the crappy interior, for example.
Another thing to be aware of is that theres a number of edges of raw pressboard that are going to be in direct contact with your floor. I got chair glides to nail into the headboard and footboard so that I dont scratch the floor. I think this might be a good idea for carpeting as well, unless youre never going to move it (because it would snag on carpeting).
And yes to the screwdriver drill bit. A few of the screws would be hard to set by hand, I think.
Its not a fine piece of furniture, and it could be that my teen destroys it by bouncing around on it. But its what I expected it to be and Im happy with it.
Update: When I went to make the second bed, I had a couple of defective pieces (a drawer side where the wood was split and a nut that would not meet properly with its mate). I called the 800 number for , and they couldnt have been nicer about taking care of the problem. Wonderful customer service.
I bought this bed for my 4 year old son. It is a great bed. The only problem I have with it is the handles on the drawers are very sharp on the corners. The bed itself it a great solid bed. Worth the money!!!

seems higher quality than I expected
My only complaint is that I keep stubbing my toes on the end. Some bedframes are designed to avoid this
Right for the money
