I bought these loft beds for my granddaughters and they love them. One said it was one of her dreams come true. The other one drew me a picture of it and said it makes their room so pretty.
Really sturdy. Just plan on some assembly time and pay really close attention to detail. Its easy to f yourself over. Positive tho, they send extra parts!!!!!!
Oh boy, this bed is a hit! Our 9/year/old son has a small bedroom and, now that hes in 4th grade and has more homework, he needed a workspace of his own. Squeezing in a with his old room set/up was going to be tight. So I got to researching and ended up selecting this bed.
See the pics to see how we transformed his bedroom. He LOVES IT!
As for construction: The instructions make it pretty simple. Its mostly a matter of setting aside the time. Id say it took a total of 2.5 hours, with help from my 11/year/old daughter. The stage where Id say one person needs a hand is toward the beginning, when you assemble the main frame. I needed my daughter to hold up each side rail so I could affix it to the head/foot boards. Other than that, you can do it alone if necessary.
As others said, the ladder rungs are a bit painful on bare feet, whether youre a kid or an adult. I may rectify that, I may not. Not a deal breaker. Well see.
I would suggest some kind of bed cubby holder thing to hold your phone/IPad etc. see it in the pic, tucked into the side rail of my sons bed, near the headboard. Its handy because theres no storage space up on the bed. Just a thought.
Sturdy constitution. I plan to affix earthquake straps to the bed and wall for a little extra sturdiness (California here). Highly recommend!
EDIT: I added the earthquake straps last night. I made sure to add one strap to each back end and to the wall, but I placed it high, to keep the bed more sturdy (it shakes a bit when climbing up on the bed). The straps gave it excellent sturdiness and brought the shaking waaaay down. So much more grounded now, and I have more peace of mind in an earthquake.
We were looking for a for my sons room and we have little space. So my hubby suggested to think vertically. After lots of searching, we settled on this loft. You could put it together by yourself, but it helps to have a partner. There was a dent where two of the poles were packaged, but its in a place where its not as noticeable. All the pieces and parts were present. It is a great investment!
Ok, after 3 hours of work I finally finished install this bed. It took a little more space than I expected, but thats fine. There are quite a few nice things I noticed. The first one is the manual mentioned that you should not tighten all the screws during the installation, do that only you finished the whole stuff. Another thing out of my expectation is that the boards they used are heavy, they are really good boards.
The things make me feel really bad was, if I climb up, it would shake. I am around 150 lbs, and it stated it should hold tight for bodies less than 200 lbs. Another terrible thing is the ladder. My feet pain every time I climb it.
UPDATE: Today my friend helped me to use some extra wires to bind it to the wall and it is not waggle anymore. So I decided not complaining it. Yet the ladder sucks.
