We purchased this bunk bed for my daughters (6 and nearly 4). It arrived in two large boxes each piece was well cushioned but only a few pieces were labeled. We were left to figure out what was what by process of elimination and what was packaged in the same way. It went together fairly easily, it took one adult about 3 hours to build it from start to finish. We followed the advice of other reviewers and built the upper bunk on top of the lower, rather than building and lifting into place. Some of the pilot holes on the slats were not centered, but we were able to adequately secure them. Several of the holes on the headboard and footboard were not well reamed and has to be cleaned out before the hardware would seat correctly in the holes. Once constructed, it feels sturdy and the white finish looks very nice in their room. Its a shorter height, so I can make the upper bunk while standing on the ground once the back corner of the sheet is on. The official weight limit is 165, but I have sat in both bunks reading with my kids with no problems. Overall, its a great bed for the price/but be prepared to do a bit of extra work to assemble it well.
My grandchildren still use this and worked for them just finegot it 3 years ago. Now they are 4 and 5 moved to their new house and this white color blended well on their newly painted blue bedroom. Theyve use it as 2 separate beds from the beginning.
My girls LOVE this se It has held up through a move and looks really nic It took me and my husband 3 hours to put together, so be prepare I am so thankful that we both have a sense of humor because it took forever to buil
Once finished, the bed looks really nice and is extremely sturdy. The slanted ladder is a huge plus compared to the vertical ladders with thin rungs (that hurt your feet) on many other designs. Wish it had been available in a lighter finish to match our boys existing furniture a bit better, but the high quality and low price still made this an excellent choice for us. My only negative comments would be related to the directions. Theres not a word in them / just pictures. For some parts, there is definitely a specific order you need to assemble the components, but the pictures just show them assembled (as if everything goes together simultaneously), so you may have to loosen things up once in a while to fit other parts in, then re/tighten. The labeling of parts is also a bit confusing (the paper shows parts A1, A2, A3, and A4 / theyre virtually identical, but only one of the physical parts has an A2 sticker on it and youre left to deduce which is which for the remaining parts. This happens in each of the 3 main assembly steps (the As, Bs and Cs). It helps to scan ahead to the later pictures to see what attaches where in the later steps so you get the right piece in the right places in the earlier steps. I have a lot of experience putting together kit furniture, so I avoided many of the potential pitfalls, but I could definitely see a less experienced person getting fouled up several times. There also wasnt a single screw left over from the hardware kit. I usually like to see an extra piece of each major type of hardware, just in case one is damaged or left out by accident. There were not shortages, but we needed every single piece in the bag, so it was a bit of a concern as we approached the end. There was also what Id describe as a shoe polish smell that took about a week to dissipate, but not so bad that my child complained about it. Its solid wood (except for the slats, which are plywood and numerous and very sturdy / the foam mattress lays over them very smoothly). The suggested weight limit for the top bunk is 165lbs, but Im 180lbs and my son is around 55lbs, and we have no problems at all lying in the top bunk reading together each night. Overall, for all the minor inconveniences, its still a very high quality unit for a very reasonable price. I wouldnt hesitate to get another bed if we ever needed another set of bunks.
I love this be I put it together myself with no difficulty. The instructions were clear. Right now I have the beds separated as twin beds and they are darlin I am very happy with this purchase.
Im normally skeptical of put it together yourself projects. The directions were pretty straight forward. It would be nice if all of the parts were labeled so you didnt have to try and figure them out. There were two spots that it didnt seem to matter which one of the two pieces I used but then later on, it mattered and of course, they had to be moved.
The final product is very sturdy and it has an absolutely beautiful finish. Some other reviews mentioned a horrible smell, I did not notice this at all. The product comes in two boxes and the wood is well protected from getting scratches from the other pieces. It is most definitely easier if 2 people can work on this together, its less of a balancing act, but I was able to do it myself. I also used a drill to screw all of the long bolts in, which made it a little easier on the arm/hand. The bit needed is a 5/32 hex.
I would recommend this to other
Weve had these beds for three years. My oldest is now almost 13, and has gotten quite a bit bigger, in height and weight. The beds are still sturdy, have not chipped and are just a great looking and practical bed. I am planning on buying another one this Christmas for my two other girls.
My husband and I purchased these bunk beds for our kids, and theyve help up pretty good. The major complaint that I have is that the wooden slabs that go under the mattresses are very prickly and over the years Ive received and splinters when moving the beds for whatever reason. Now that our two oldest daughters are a little more grown up, weve passed the bottom bunk onto our 3 year old. Im always concerned that shes going to reach her hand up there and get a splinter.
I definitely wouldnt recommend these beds to anyone weighing over 100lbs for long term use. They are cheaply made, but good enough quality for small children. The kids definitely cannot roughhouse on these beds.
