I bet you are thinking, Its aluminum, so itll be lighter than a steel hitch. Nope! Youre looking at two hefty aluminum billets, beautifully machined into the hitch ball body and the vertical spine it mates with. Total weight: about 20 pounds. Its an attention grabber, but unfortunately also the bad kind - lock it or stow it when not in use! Overall, it has been rock solid towing trailers from 2,000 to 10,000 pounds for me.
My only gripe: There was over 1/8 of side-to-side and vertical play when I stuck it in my nearly new factory GM hitch receiver on a 3/4 ton truck. I expect a better fit, so minus one star. I know ... tolerances and fit vary between manufacturers ... but for this price, would it hurt to include an anti-rattle shim in the box?
Great hitch! Ive had this hitch for over a year now. I pull a landscaping trailer every week and Ive also pulled a trackhoe with it, with no problems. Not gonna lie, I was hesitant about an aluminum hitch, but its been great. No problems at all.
The adjustable feature is nice and the jack looks great on the back of the truck. Its strange that the 2 ball seems smaller than 2 inches because, when attached, my 6x12 utility trailer tongue has wiggle room. Stays attached but makes noise.
This is the second Anderson 10 drop hitch I have, nothing wrong with the older one I just placed it onto a different truck, I absolutely love this hitch and is very quick to adjust or swap ball sizes, Ive hauled up to 18,000lbs with it and it never had any issue, I recommend it to everyone that is in the market for a new adjustable drop hitch!
