Highly recommend using an electric drill. We didnt have one with us, and putting the plats on the bed was a little tough without an electric drill.

Platform bed not actual size
The platform bed was basically easy to assemble and it seems fairly sturdy. We are not satisfied with our mattress not fitting the platform bed.
