Used 7 inch Ikea mattress. Absolutely no bunkie board required. Material is not flawless. Youll see imperfections in the material are very common. Last step of installing the stairs doesnt feel very secure. I used zip ties(as shown in one picture) to secure the stairs but still feels not very secure
The beds separately are very good quality. Theyre fine as a bunk bed, but I would prefer more stability. I have a 7 and 9 year old who both use the top bunk just fine, Im just paranoid. I love that the ladder can come off easily because we also have a 2 year old who loves to climb. It was pretty easy to put together, I did most of it by myself. I needed help to put the beds on top of each other because I am short. Over all, I really like these and would definitely recommend!
I researched bunkbeds over and over and over because I wanted to get safe, sturdy, solid wood bunks. I had NO idea how expensive they are now, its ridiculous!!
After coming across this one I was hesitant because of it being such a great price but I got the warranty and crossed my fingers.
It was truly the right decision. The wood is SOLID, not that particle board crap that crumbles. I got the deep brown and its beautiful.
I will say to READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY COMPLETELY, it will make your life easier lol.
Also the wood has a very smooth finish, good for no splinters but a bit scary for going up down the ladder. So I got some of that outdoor step grip strips and they work great.
Another tip, GET BUNKBED COMFORTERS.
I got mine from The Linen Store. The bottom of the comforters are gathered with elastic like a fitted sheet. Theyre WONDERFUL and they keep the bedding in place makes it easier for my granddaughters to make their beds.
Just make sure you get your mattressess FIRST so you know the exact size because you can get the comforters in different deepnesses.
My son (6) wanted bunk beds. He had been asking for them for months. So I finally got him some when me moved. These are great. He loves them. The assembly wasnt super hard. But definitely took more time them expected.
