Very nice.First off, I just want to say that I couldnt be happier with the quality of this product. We got the silver bunk with the under desk kit. Now that Ive got it all together and screwed into the wall, I am continually impressed with this piece of furniture. The metal itself feels heavy duty and good quality and the design of the bed is well thought out.
I also like that since the bed is all constructed from metal tubing and struts, you can easily modify the bed to support third/party electrical components like surge protectors and under/bed lighting. Zip ties are your friend with this bed.
The only thing that drove me nuts about this product are the assembly instructions. Overall, theyre easy to understand, each step has directions and illustrations to show you what youre supposed to be doing. Though there are a few times during assembly where small details make all the difference and these small details are not clearly marked in the illustrations and barely mentioned or not mentioned at all in the steps.
If you get just the bed alone, you wont have any issues with the instructions as it goes together pretty easily. Though if youre also installing the desk underneath, you will have to pay special attention to where each cross bar goes and how its oriented as the holes for the shelving unit only mate with one of the bars and in one particular orientation, which is not explicitly noted in the instructions. This is because the bed and the desk are technically two separate kits that fit together but neither set of instructions make much mention of the other part and as a result, fine details get lost.
Overall, its a great product, but the instructions need work. Please pay close attention to even the smallest details or you may find yourself redoing steps multiple times like I did. Here are some things I learned putting this together that may help you out:
1. The bed will be more stable in the long run if you use Loctite on all of your bolts.
2. If installing the desk too, skip the last step of bed assembly, which instructs you to terminate all remaining holes to make it look more polished. These holes are all used for the desk so you shouldnt spend the time covering them as the first step of desk assembly is to uncover all of these holes.
3. The brackets used to screw the bed into the wall dont seem to be mentioned in the instructions but the best joints/screws to use for these brackets are the bolts that are screwed vertically into the bottom of the rear cross bar, or the ones that screw horizontally into the rear vertical tubes.
4. I couldnt find two bolt locations that lined up with standard wall stud spacing, so I had to drill a hole into the rear cross bar to accommodate two wall brackets. You could probably get away with one if you use a thick and sturdy screw to drill into the wall stud.
5. Standard 48 LED strip lighting adheres to the bottom of the rear cross bar perfectly and does a great job of lighting up the desk and the wall behind the bed.
6. Zip ties will allow you to attach all sorts of cool things to this bed to extend its functionality without needing to permanently modify the bed itself.
7. I highly recommend zip tying a surge protector into place to the rear cross bar under the desk. That way you can plug a light, computer, device charger, etc all into the desk surge protector without having to go directly to the wall. So the bed then contains its own power grid, making it easier to move the bed around in the future without having to rewire the electronics on your desk.
Would definitely buy again. Good product. Its as good as the stuff Ive seen in stores, and at about half the price. Brackets to secure bed to wall not spaced quite right for wall studs. Assembles in just a couple hours, even in intense heat with children jumping on top of you. I would NOT endeavor to put myself in this bed, despite being just under the weight limit. Its for kids. We wanted a queen bed to fit underneath longways. It doesnt, but it fits comfortably the other way. I had no issues with parts, fasteners, or other hardware supplied with the bed.
Easy to assemble. Very sturdy. Very nice and sturdy bed frame. It took a few hours to put together by myself, but itll work great for my kids. I would have given this 5 stars, but one of the bottom legs had the holes drilled incorrectly, so I was unable to put a screw in one location. Thankfully with the entire bunk bed assembled that one missing screw doesnt affect the sturdiness or stability, since it was the screw that would hold the middle bar attaching the top bunk to the bottom. And as someone who has assembled plenty of furniture, the instructions could have been a bit clearer. Due to the unclear instructions, the top bar where the ladder attaches was assembled upside down, requiring me to undo the entire top bunk to correct the mistake.
Those minor hiccups aside, I do like this bed.
Buy it again. We got this bunk for our 14 year old and 9 year old sons to share. Our 14 year old is 57 and us sleeping on the bottom bunk with plenty of headspace! It is sturdy/ I saw that other reviewers mentioned it not being sturdy but I have to wonder if they tightened the bolts well?
It was a bit of a bear to put together as our parts were labeled incorrectly, but the boys and I were still able to figure it out and get it put together. It took us about 2.5 hours total.
All in all it seems like a great bed/ its their first night sleeping in it so time will tell but they drifted off comfortably.
Thanks. Loving my loft bed!! It took my dad an I about 2 hours to set up. I moved back with my pops to save money and the room is so tiny. I needed this for extra space. I currently have my lights for YouTube and a small bookshelf underneath it and it has opened up my room so much! Make sure you snug everything down tightly at the end and the bed will not squeak. And of course pay attn to the directions. We accidentally installed a couple poles backwards and needed to disassemble some pieces to fix it. No big deal. Ill give this 4 stars because the steps on the ladder are a bit uncomfortable so I will likely put some padding over them. They would be much better as square steps rather than cylinder. For reference, I am 57 135 lbs and there is plenty of space on the top. I can sit all the way up and not hit my head on the ceiling
Best purchase yet! I do love this bed. Its exactly what we were looking for. We put it in the room for our 8 year old daughter. She home schools so this was a great solution for her small room. I purchased two chests of drawers separately to put on either side next to where the keyboard slot is. The bed itself does seem very sturdy but it does shift around a fair amount even when our 4 year old is climbing up. The ladder rungs are ridiculously uncomfortable and hurt the feet as stated by other reviewers. We had to wait almost 2 months to get this finally but it was worth it. I would definitely purchase again!
Bless your hearts. not bad, very sturdy. We bought this for my son. the top bunk is a foot or so higher than our other bunk so I wouldnt buy this for young kids unless you like to spend time in the ED
As described and easy to set up. A little wobbly, and the ladder hurts my feet when climbing up. Took about 4/5 hours to assemble this. Put my desk under this and it fit perfectly.
I like it. Im very happy with this frame and so is my (almost) 6 year old son. I bought it to move his twin mattress from his old racecar frame and because I was moving my old queen bed into his room / so to save space. It goes perfectly in his racing themed room.
It took me about an hour and a half to put together on my own (52, 110lb woman). I only had an issue when one of the mattress support bars was slightly twisted and wouldnt fit into the slots. My husband took it out to his shop and did whatever he does to make it fit. This is the only reason Im taking a star away.
Very happy with this so far.
Assembly is very easy. Great bed for the price, I only wish the mattress rungs were welded in and not held in by platic tabs. They will wear out eventually and break.
