This bed frame is beautiful and of good quality. I ordered using the Super Saver shipping which was free and the bed came a week earlier than the estimated shipping date. It was shipped using ABF freight and they were very helpful. They called the day before to let us know that they would be coming and the truck driver that delivered it was very nice. Do keep in mind that someone has to be home when it is delivered but other than that I was very pleased with this order. Also, there were no directions for assembling the bed frame but it was relatively easy to figure out since they were only a few pieces to assemble and they gave you extra hardware which was great.
Just took delivery and assembled today. The bed is shipped in 3 boxes (headboard/footboard, side rails, and slats). Assembly is quick and easy / I spent more time assembling bar stools than this bed. The instruction sheet is 99 of what a perfect instruction sheet should be (/1 for the mismatch of the photo and written directions for screwing in the slats, as stated in the other review). Kudos for shipping with extra screws/washers/etc.
The bed is very sturdy, the wood is great quality, and I had no shipping damage nor imperfections in the wood. I use this with a very heavy Tempurpedic mattress, and the bed handles the mattresss weight without a problem (though I did put some plywood down over the slats due to recommendation of Tempurpedic). Everything fits tightly and securely / nothing is loose, including the bars on the head and foot boards.
All in all, this is a well manufactured bed. Id recommend this bed and Id certainly buy again from Modus.
This product arrived quickly and looks nice. It is difficult to put together by one person, so you will want some help. Our biggest issue is that the legs on the center support where not attached very well, so they bent easily even when screwed in. I ended up screwing in additional screws to try and make them more sturdy, and while it did help, with the weight of a king mattress I am a little nervous about how this will hold up. Perhaps this is not as much of a problem on the other size frames, but something to look out for.
This bed seemed to be a good deal.
It came with no instructions. No problem, i figured out how to put it together.
During assembly, 2 of the threaded collets that the bed sides connect to fell out. This is when i realized that the purdy wood was a laminate over some very soft wood.
No, problem, I drilled out the hole and ran a big lag bolt through it. Solid as a rock.
My girlfriend gets on the bed. CRACK!!! one of the slats breaks, on closer inspection, it was a very soft piece of wood and it cracked on the knot. No problem. Some glue and some wood strips screwed to the top and bottom, fixed.
Then, we felt frisky. 2 minutes in, the sound of jumbling wood grinds us to a halt. I look under the bed, 2 of the central legs have ripped themselves off of their bolts.
Whipped out the box of 3 wood screws. fixed.
long story short, this bed is very cheap. i never thought id say this, but im tired of screwing on that bed. er. You know what i mean. Look elsewhere.
I just bought a house and was accordingly cash/poor, but needed a new bed and wanted to buy something I would be happy with for a few years before I decided to invest time and money into higher/end furniture. This bed seemed like a good compromise and I would probably consider buying it again in the same situation.
Delivery people were on time and carried the bed up to my 3rd/floor unit no problem. The main box was pretty beat up, but there were no scratches or other damage to the wood, so good job on packaging there.
Assembly was more irritating that it needed to be and there were a number of unfortunate engineering decisions:
/ trying to mount the central support beam under the slats after they had been laid was cumbersome and frustrating. It really should connect to the frame, not just the slates.
/ the outer frame is held together only by L/braces, which makes it difficult to square properly. Furthermore, the screws in the outer frame are somewhat obstructed by the slats, so tightening down after laying the slats to square the frame doesnt really work
/ the legs under the central support beam are poorly connected: the anchors all pulled out causing the legs to fall off and the bed to partially collapse while I was.practicing my advanced partner yoga. The instructions did warn against over/tightening, which was probably the reason they ripped out, but there was no clear way to tell what over/tightening entailed. If they had used a 30/cent anchor instead of a 10/cent anchor, this would not be a problem. I fixed it with some wood screws to mount the legs to the beam, which seems to hold up just fine.
All things considered, I felt like a craftsman could have done a much better job engineering this piece and the result would only have been a marginal increase in the cost of the materials with considerably simplified setup and a sturdier product.
That said, the final product is decent after a bit of love. It looks good, it feels reasonably solid, and the price is pretty fair for something with a bit of style. And I do like the fact that buying matching bedroom is easy.
I purchased this bed in CA king size for my memory foam mattress was pleasantly surprised! It is beautiful and sturdy. No particle board. Nice espresso finished hardwood with glides pre/installed on all the legs, so its easy to move around. Slatted platform is securely screwed to frame for stability, evenly spaced with connecting double ribbons.
Not only was it shipped fast, it was easy to transport (3 boxes) assemble / minor issue with 2 predrilled holes not lining up (easily remedied with drill).
I assembled it upside down flipped it over with no trouble Im 52 a weakling.
Spectacular cost far less than ugly plastic/metal bed foundations.
This is a REALLY nice bed at a great price. We did a LOT of online shopping and this bed got a lot of positive reviews on many different sites. I generally do not buy something like this site unseen but that was what a lot of other reviewers said who gave it positive reviews which made me comfortable to do the same.
The set up was simple /my 9 year old and I did it together in about an hour / only because I didnt want to wait for my husband to come home!!I would suggest that you read the directions all the way through first to make sure you understand them / they were very vague but certainly understandable if you take the time to digest them.
I had read from other reviewers that they suggested to put an extra support down the middle slat. I didnt realize until reading another persons review that the feet on the center supports are adjustable. Many people complained that the feet didnt touch the floor which is true but there is a remedy / I wish the directions had stated that!

It looks nice for the price, but.

Not worth it.

A/minus for look and feel, C for engineering, decent deal for the price
