This bed does not come with the mattress. However it does come in a box when you get it and its a lot of cardboard. It took me a little while to figure out how to set the bed up and it even comes with some brackets to nail it or bolted to the wall. Im 5 foot 11 215 pounds and I got a small ladder on the side where the bed ladders at and it doesnt move or anything when I climb up into the bed and its pretty comfortable it just takes a bit to get in and out of bed I bought a mattress at the local mattress store 415 plus the 10 recycling fee and Im pretty much set up. I bought this bed because I have acquired three little dogs over the course of the years and I just need my own space and it has worked out very well. Just follow the instructions and youll be fine!!
