It is real soft wood, like the outside legs, middle metal legs have padding on the bottom.
Wood mattress boards go on with 4 pegs and velcro, must easier to install then others.
Sturdiness soso but good enough for the price. Definitely wouldnt jump on it. Time will tell how it holds up.
