Daughter liked the birthday gift I purchased this daybed over a year ago and I am completely pleased with the purchase. The finish is matte and the simplicity of the design is what I was going for in a boys room that is painted with mountains. The assembly was not too bad but I would recommend reading the instructions through prior to assembly (we left out the little foam pieces). I would definitely recommend.
