    Sturdy minimalist frame

Great frame, and I love that its foldable for easy transport while remaining very solid. Its also made in the US, a huge plus for me. This is a great frame for a smaller apartment, as it essentially fits under the mattress, creating a clean floating bed look. Its 58 inches, so about 2 inches too narrow for a true queen mattress, but this is totally fine. Like IKEA, the individual pieces are small and appear like they may be flimsy. But one assembled, its very very solid. For additional stability you could glue the dowel joints together, as they do shift a tiny bit. But that doesnt seem necessary, its very difficult to actually pull them apart. The wood is raw unfinished poplar, which has very interesting coloration. Its much more unique than pine. I treated mine with linseed oil and tanned it in the sun to give it a slightly golden/teaked look. Out of the box it does look green, but if you stick it in the sun for a few days it will get a tan. Poplar is light sensitive. I recommend coating with linseed oil like Watco Danish oil. This gave mine a hard finish which helps protect it from bumps. The linseed oil really helps the grain stand out, and aids in turning the green in poplar into a pleasing honey color. The only con / I do wish also made a night stand and TV stand to go with their / I like the simple arts and crafts/mission style, but its difficult to find poplar furniture like this to match.
