No joke this bed is what the review say. Its sturdy, solid, and high quality. It does have a paint smell but so does the wall after I painted it. To handle that I just air the room out for a few days and that was the end of that. I have purchase 2 other bunkbeds in the past and never did I see a steel beam support under the beds. This bed is well made and the best 500 bunkbed investment this far. Perfect for my needs.
