The fit and finish were very good, much better than I expected for the price. As stated it is all hardwood, not pine. It states made from high/quality solid rubberwood composites. The composites are the plywood mattress slats. When assembled it seemed to be very sturdy. It was easy to assemble. I did use a hammer to tap in the dowels. You will also need a phillips screwdriver to put the screws in the mattress slats. Everything else is provided. It does say not to use a mattress over 7 in thickness. In summary, you would need to spend considerably more money to get a better bed. I was very impressed with this bed. Very sturdy.
