Easy to set up. I am very bad it assembling things and this was a little easier than I imagined. The hardest part was aligning the screws properly to be able to fit into each hole. Other than that, instructions were very clear (they are picture only, no words FYI). Also, make sure you keep track of all the screws and what number they are.
I have a 10inch memory foam mattress and no box spring but the height is not too low or too high. I left the headboard a little bit higher than the mattress so I can reach the outlet behind the bed. After I first sat on my bed I heard a squeak or too, I think that was the bed just settling in. It feels very sturdy. No extra tools needed, just used what was in the box.
I did find that the velcro on one of the wooden s was not stapled on properly, there was a twist in it that was not fixable. Despite that, the wooden flats still stuck to the bed frame just fine.
Overall, this was a great bed for the price and definitely worth the money!
