Easy to set up. Ive had this bed for 4.5 months and I havent had to tighten it yet. I know the instructions said to occasionally check the bolts, but overall its holding up. Its super sturdy and holds an 8 inch memory foam green tea mattress very well. I have mdf boards with foam sheets underneath the mattress as a bunky board. The slats are fairly sturdy once snapped in, but when assembling the slats some of the ones on the ends of the bed will only snap down on one side, meaning the plastic lock things dont go all the way in on the very ends. This hasnt proven to be a problem because the structure of the bed as a whole is tightly bolted and tightened together.
The weight of the mattress pushing down on the mdf boards also helps keep the slats in check. I have put pool noodles with zip ties on the ladders just so the ladder is more comfortable to climb on, but Im considering getting an alternative to the built on ladder.
As for weight, the bed holds more than the 300 lb weight limit. My boyfriend is 215 lbs and I am 150 lbs. The bed is still holding up. It does slightly shake but thats because the frame is made of metal only and isnt attached to the wall. I do have things between the wall and the bed to capture some of the vibrations, but other than that it doesnt bother me. My boyfriend comes over sometimes, but most of the time its just me sleeping on there.
I have a desk under my loft bed and once you remember to not stand up completely you wont bang your head.
Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and my small room feels much bigger now.
Pretty good bed, happy with my purchase.
