Purchased this for my young elementary age kids and they love it! The 400 lb weight capacity was what sold me on it. I also really appreciate the low height of the top bunk because it is easy to kiss kids good night and I suspect they will be jumping off of it when Im not looking.
I am only 5 feet tall and I can just barely sit up straight when sitting on the bottom bunk. We have a Tuft Needle mattress (10 inches I think.) For the top we bought a Lucid 5 inch mattress and a 1.5 inch bunkie board.
I assembled it by myself and it wasnt too difficult. BE SURE TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHERE THE HOLES IN THE TUBES ARE IN THE DRAWINGS. As long as you make sure that every single hole shown in the drawing is in the right place you will be good to go!
The bed is super sturdy! Only misgivings is that the steps on the ladder are rods rather than flat steps. It doesnt seem to bother the kids but it hurts this mommys feet to stand on the rungs of the ladder.
I would definitely purchase this bed again!
