I dont think I could be more pleased with this.
I have a black oak room divider that Ive had for years now that it matches perfectly. Im also in the process of buying a tv thats gonna be 85 inches plus. I needed a new media center for it and I wanted one that was as low to the ground as possible. This SAYS its a wall mount, but you dont have to do that and it works perfectly on the floor.
Assembly was fairly easy. Youre talking to a blind guy who literally couldnt read the instructions and managed to put it together 100% right in a couple hours. I never wanted to mount it on the wall, but if you do, then Id suggest you not only read the directions, but do so very carefully. That part of things looks like it could be a little tricky and you dont it to fall off the wall due to installation error.
I read a lot of reviews on this all over the net except for here because is where the trolls come to make crap up and take their problems out on anything but what causes them. In doing so, the only negative reviews I found were one person who had it fall off the wall on them. I blame it on not being installed right. There were also two negative reviews about it being damaged on delivery. In both cases they mentioned that it was packed well and that they thought it was factory damage and not from shipping. Because of this I decided to buy it at Home Depot instead in case I have to take it back. It wouldve made the process a lot easier. I didnt have to do that and I actually saved a couple bucks that way, too. Almost forgot that I saw one review that mentioned that there were pre-drilled holes missing. I chalk this up to user error and didnt have this problem myself. With what second hand knowledge I have of the way these things are built, Im not sure thats even possible.
All three storage areas are the same size. That means the three adjustable shelves can be put in any place you want them. You can put two in one, all three in one or not use any of them. Im opting for one in the middle and thats it. If anybody needs a couple extra shelves for this, you can come and pick them up any time. The two sliding doors work pretty well also. You dont have to use both or any of these if you dont to, either. You can theoretically just put on one door and use it to cover the middle third and leave the two outer ones open. Just a heads up and an option that you might not know exists without looking at it in person. There arent pins that hold the shelves up. There are little screw like things that have to be screwed into pre-drilled holes and these pins sort of lock into the shelves so they dont move on you unless you want them to. There is a couple of inches space between the two inner dividers and the back wall, so the inside is basically one large storage area with two dividers in it. The air and possibly small items can pass easily between the left, right and center portions. Could be a bit of a pain with small items or a good thing if your cable box or other devices throw a lot of heat.
The quality is exactly what youd expect. If youve put together any of these things in the past, then you know exactly what youre getting. Average quality. No more, no less. Plenty good enough.
I love it
