I got this for my son when he was 2.5, he loved it, it allows storage underneath. 2 years later its still as sturdy as ever. His little sister when she gets out of her crib will sleep on a twin mattress underneath, we have a friend who slept on a twin mattress underneath before and it worked, no room to sit up but thats fine. I only gave it 4 stars because its a pain to make the bed but other than that we love it
