This bed takes several hours to assemble. (Don't wait until Christmas Eve like we did The bed itself is great and works awesome for our 5 year old. The only issues I have is how easy the drawers fall apart. The pieces came a bit wonky and so it never locked in to place quite like it should. Within days it was falling apart. It's a bummer but doesn't effect the sturdiness of the stairs in any way. The other thing to keep in mind with this bed is that you may want to keep the labels on the pieces if you will need to move at some point. This bed is going to be really tough to disassemble and reassemble when we move.
Other than those 2 things it's been LOVED by our son.
DO NOTE: It is not tall enough for even our barely two year old to stand under without needing to duck. It's a fun fort area but not big enough for furniture or anything significant.
