This is an extremely sturdy bed. Most of the structural pieces are actual wood. Its sturdy enough for an adult to climb the stairs and get into it. The seller over sold the stair version so they sent us the ladder for free until the stairs came in. They were extremely helpful and quick to correct their error. Exceeded my expectation on quality
