Good customer service but poor quality control

After reading this review, customer service refunded my money with an added goodwill refund of $12. I had not asked for a refund. They wanted me to change the rating of this review because of market competition and their trying to get things right as a new business. I am sure that the company rep who contacted me is under big pressure to keep the ratings high. This pressure is part of market competition and should never be passed along to the customer. Change the reputation of your product directly by improving it, not by obligating customers to influence potential customers. I added one star to the rating because of the refund but then removed it because I resented the strings attached. The original two-star rating remains because I feel that even if I had not received a defective product, it is way overpriced for what it is. In order to have been worth the price, it would have had to have an elegant color, shaping details and surface texture. Plastic has the potential to look and feel very sophisticated. This is really no different from the cheap chairs sold at home improvement centers except that it is more sturdy. While being sturdy, it is much lighter than wood, so easier to carry, which is essential because it lacks wheels. My fingers are crossed that it won't warp. The review I left previously is below. Bear in mind when reading it that I received an unsolicited refund and bonus compensation with strings attached. Two of the six legs were molded to the wrong size. All legs have to fit very tightly so that they don't fall out, but they have to be made properly so that they can be inserted. Four were a tight fit that took a while with a mallet but finally went in without breakage. The other two had misshapen, flared sides and were just too wide to fit. I soaked them in hot water. One went in with patient angling and tapping and then some impatient blows. The other would not fit without a bit of filing. The adjustable back sections would not go together. The plastic turned white where it was supposed to go over a notch. I just left it half secured. Struggling with sloppy manufacturing did not improve my disappointment with the appearance. It looks like cheesy plastic. At half the price it would have been overpriced. If it could be pulled apart, I would return it, but that would be a big job, including repackaging and getting the pickup arranged, all time that I would not be recompensed for. So, I am keeping it. I needed a pair of lounges. I won't be buying a second one of these. What I do like about it is that now that it is put together, it is sturdy. It will withstand the seasons better than wood or metal. Once it has a beautiful cushion covering the cheap looking plastic, it will serve well.
