I am in my 50s with a very bad back. My husband recently passed, so I am working on creating my house so that I can do things by myself without too much trouble. I read the reviews on this bed and watched it for a long time - when I was finally ready to buy it, I was lucky enough to get it on a Lightning Deal. My old bed was a name brand, was twice the price of this one, and was made out of inferior materials that didn't last long. It took me four hours and a lot of back pain to get the old bed taken apart. I had been hoping to sell it, but it was too broken up and didn't come apart easily, though when I finally lost patience and used a framing hammer on it, it was just fine. It took me 10 whole minutes to put the new bed together! It is sturdy, and I will be able to move it by myself without it breaking when I move into a different house. Some of the reviews noted that if you move the bed, it will come apart, but I have not had that issue. As well, several reviewers noted that the finish gives off a heavy smell that takes time to off-gas. I definitely noticed a smell, so I left the box open in my living room for a couple of days before I put it together, and that seems to have helped. I bought the grey, and it is really pretty! The only criticism I have is that it would be nice if they included felt to stick to the bottom of the feet for those with wood floors. Other than that, I have to say that this is probably some of the best money I've ever spent - the bed holds my memory foam mattress perfectly, and I am now sleeping more comfortably than I have in a very long time. I did put six new (folded up) medium sized moving boxes over the slats before I put my mattress on, so there is a double thickness of cardboard between the slats and the mattress, which I prefer just to keep my mattress in good shape. It would be really nice if it were possible to choose between the height of this bed and something 6 inches taller. I really like a taller bed, but because this bed is so great otherwise, I'm happy to give it five stars.
Love this bed!
