Pretty easy to assemble / looks more expensive than it is
I was encouraged by other reviews I had read, and just put the bed together slowly, without tightening everything up until Step 9. Everything is labelled clearly, and you get a parts list to check before you get started (highly recommend doing this). I put it together in about 3 hours / and it looks pretty great.
I think I imagined the storage space to be bigger than it is, but honestly, its plenty. We replaced an old Ikea Mandal platform bed with storage drawers with this bed, because a 4/drawer bed means you are forced to out the bed in the center of the sleeping area to use both sets of drawers. The center lift means we can have the bed right up by the windows, its got a bench below it, and theres no loss of access at all.
Note: the bed is harder to push back down than to lift up, but I think thats maybe a safety feature.
All in all, it was well packed, the slats are wood, rather than metal, the fabric finish is nice and understated, and its not hard to assemble, especially if youve done a fair amount of Ikea assembling in the past.
