After a snafu in which I ordered the Warehouse Like New Caribou bunk bed, I was a little worried about trying my luck with this model. To be clear, the bunk beds come in TWO boxes; the smaller, square box contains the headboards and footboards, as well as the necessary hardware to assemble the bed. The long, rectangular box contains the rest of the parts (slats, rails, and ladder pieces). The mixup for me with the Warehouse Deals version was that it only came with one box. was great with the return, and as soon as I was reimbursed, I bought the NEW Longhorn model from .
After unpacking everything and making sure all the pieces were there (which I actually NEVER do, but considering the size and time it would take to build it, I thought Id better not chance it), I noticed that all the pieces were clearly labeled with letters, all of which corresponded exactly with the instructions. All of the hardware was likewise sorted into bags, and each bag was labeled.
The bed really was a breeze to put together, even for one person. The only time I needed help was lifting the assembled top bunk onto the bottom bunk.
The material is solid wood, and once assembled it didnt feel wobbly at all. I will say that I read some comments on the quality of the bed slats, and while I agree that theyre low/grade and pretty flimsy, ours werent splintered at all. Because there are so many slats, the weight should be pretty well distributed.
One thing to keep in mind is the space that will be required to assemble both beds: make sure you have enough room for the beds to go side/by/side during assembly and that you have enough space to move around them.
The quality of the craftsmanship is great. The pieces look and feel solid, even at the cross/sections no part seemed to be made of pressboard or anything. This adds to the weight of the product, something to keep in mind if youre lugging the boxes up stairs.
The ladder is at an angle, and the rungs are wide enough to be comfortable on bare feet. I like that the angle of the ladder isnt so wide that it sticks halfway out into the room.
Overall, Im really happy with this purchase, and Ill update as the bed experiences the wear and tear of little ones.
Great bed for a great pric
