Its meant for no Box Spring so you can actually see the header board. It is beautiful and very sturdy. I never noticed any noise problems if a married couple like my husband and I wanted to bounce around on it, it makes very little to no noise which works for our apartment cause we live on the upper floor. And dont want to disturb our neighbors on the bottom floor.
