Design really makes life easier and carafe doesnt dribble!
This is the first coffee maker I have ever had that didnt dribble all over the place no matter how I pour the coffee. I cant even begin to tell you how wonderful that is for me. The shape of the carafe also helps me to pour it.
I have my coffee maker to the left of the sink, which this model seems to be made for, because the gauge is on the right side, and the lid opens to the left. Speaking of lid, I really like being able to access the part that pumps the water out over the grounds. Previous models I have had in the past opened the grounds chamber and made cleaning all of the parts difficult if not impossible.
The coffeemaker is even better looking in person than it is in the picture. I have a black/white and stainless kitchen so this matches my other appliances. The digital clock looks very cool and crisp, and is very easy to see. Also, the display band on the bottom that tells you how fresh it is not only helps ensure you have fresh coffee, but looks cool too.
The included advanced water filter works very well and should last the average user a month. Replacements can be found .
There may be cheaper options, but I have heard too many horror stories about rust, mold, etc, so I just plan on sticking with the authentic ones from . By the way, it helps to soak the carbon filter in some tap water for a few minutes before rinsing it and inserting it. Also, tilt/wiggle a little as you pop it into place to get any air out, just for good measure.
The inclusion of the scoop is a nice angle, but most coffee drinkers already religiously measure out their favorite amount so changing to something new might be difficult.(It is growing on me, though!) Also what they call for is a little stronger than what I am used to. Speaking of measuring, I really appreciate the capacity of grounds. I like to add cinnamon and nutmeg to my coffee grounds in the fall and since it makes it difficult to get the coffee through, you risk it spilling out. When I tried it in this coffeemaker (1 tsp of cinnamon and a sprinkling of nutmeg) with 3 tbs of grounds it had no trouble handling it.
Coffee tastes great and the coffeemaker looks very nice in my kitchen. Power cord is short for safety reasons, I assume, coming it at about 24 inches. Also, the ad states that it is 14.6 inches tall, but it comes in at about 12.75 inches tall. If you are concerned about counter/cabinet clearance, the top opens up an additional 7.5 inches higher, so keep that in mind.
A full pot of coffee with two full scoops from the included scoop took 11 minutes and 14 seconds from start to completion beep. Coffee was 177 degrees F. (80.56C)
Interruption feature is nice, but not flawless. Removing the carafe had about 4 big drops escape onto the hot plate, so consider that. It is nice to be able to interrupt it when you dont have time to wait. Coffee is a good strength regardless thanks to the soaking method it employs.
One last thing is that mine did NOT come with the reusable coffee filter, so I had to use one I already had. I noticed in the manual that not all models come with it, but was confused since the ad does say it is included.
Overall this is a very very good coffeemaker. Unlike other coffeemakers in the past, this one is easier to keep clean thanks to its hourglass profile. The treatment of grounds during brewing really does make an impact on good coffee, especially after having filtered the water. Good heat too/coffee was hot, tasted delicious, and not burnt.
5 caffeine charged stars for this excellent coffeemaker! It looks serious without being too costly, the finish helps keep it clean, it makes very good coffee, and employs methods to justify the price. I would recommend.
