AWESOME BED! Easy process, assembly, and my kids loves it!!!
I almost didnt buy this bed, but the configuration and dimensions were just too perfect for our useI decided to take a chance. I assembled it myself and have had the bed for about a month now, and I just dont know what all the complaints were about. Maybe the complaints were heard and the manufacturer and the various middlemen made the necessary changes to address alleged shortfalls. The delivery was timely, the condition of the pieces and parts were pristine, assembly was easy enough, the completed product is sturdy, and is actually more handsome than I expected! My kid loves it!!! Delivery - I was proactive in my tracking and preparations, so I was in contact with the delivery company from the start and on the phone with the driver the day ofall went smoothly. I had a buddy help me move the large and heavy boxes from the curb to the garage. Unpacking was pretty physical given some of the many pieces were large and the boxes were braced everywhere with thick cardboard, almost wood-like, frames fastened by large staples. The instructions were composed like Lego instructions - mostly pictures, so it sometimes took some imagination and forethoughtbut nothing too dumbfounding. I consider myself pretty handy, have a wide array of hand and power tools, and have assembled my fair share of furnitureso that didnt hurt, but someone who has zero experience and is not handy at all - I can maybe see how it was more difficult or took longer, but not impossible. Some of the parts, namely the drawers, are not all wood, but why should they be? I have no problem with MDF or cardboard where appropriatewhy waste wood, driving up costs and kill trees, to store clothes - which is what they are designed to, and they do that well. Metal brackets and plastic wheels would have been better to slide the drawers in and outbut I applied some wax to the wood-on-wood grooves, and the drawers slide just fine. There was a newly lacquered smell, but by no means overwhelmingeveryone loves a new car smell - this was a new bed smell! Besides, I bought new foam mattresses and foam pillowsI couldnt tell what I was smelling. Regardless, the smell has fadedjust ventilate the room for a while. I will probably install bunky boards, mostly for peace of mindand I wanna chill on the top bunk sometimes! Also, I would have liked some texture on the stepsit is pretty slick in socks. I may get some stick-on carpet tiles. Other than what Ive mentionedwe are very happy with this purchase!!!
