I did modify the frame to make it a day bed/ sofa by adding additional lumber to create a back rest on the long side and incorporate the headboard pieces into this design.I also took remaining headboard pieces to create legs supporting the frame in the middle and glued most pieces together as well as used the included hardware. These modifications would not be needed for using this as a twin bed platform.
