Received this yesterday, right on schedule. It was left outside my apartment door, and whoever my He-Man UPS guy was deserves an award for lugging it upstairs, because thats a heavy box! Took me a little effort to shimmy it into my apartment, but the box fit perfectly through the door, just like everyone else has said.
After moving my ugly as sin, old as time, falling apart love seat circa 1972 out of the way, I got to work. For those wondering, this can totally be done by one person. I had re-runs of Americas Top Model on, and got the whole thing built within a few episodes. The only assembly trouble I had was getting the holes to line up so I could screw in the bolts. That took some careful maneuvering and the help of a flashlight, but I got it done. I was a little concerned that the middle wouldnt have enough support with just one bolt, but when I saw that there were two feet that would also support the middle with more bolts, I felt much better. Otherwise, this was fairly easy to assemble, and the instructions were clear and straightforward (I like that there were actual directions AND pictures, instead of pictures only. SO much easier for those of us who arent good at maps and blueprints, etc).
Regarding the smell... eh. It wasnt THAT bad, and really only applied to the cushions and covers immediately after unpacking. The smell was gone within a few minutes. Since I had to leave for a few hours, everything had a chance to expand and fluff itself up. By the time I got home, I had a proper couch! Gone is the dark orange, floral print monstrosity I ruined my lower back sitting on for so long (though, it was an upgrade from the floor). This is a proper, sleek, good looking couch that I am no longer embarrassed about bringing people over to sit on or look at. Its comfy enough to sit on (I didnt find it too short or too deep like some people are saying), and I even stretched out and dozed off on it, something I havent been able to do in YEARS.
Is it the best couch ever? Of course not, as we all know there are cushier, swankier set ups. But for the price and the convenience factor of not having to hire movers to try to shove a big couch into a small apartment? And for the sake of my spine? This is 100% worth it. Giving 4 stars right now because I want to give it some time to prove itself before I give it a full 5, but this sofa is a lifesaver. Perfect for a small 1 bedroom apartment!
So far, so good!
