We have only had this bed for a week now, so if I find some glaring problem down the road I will come back and update my review. Right now, I give the bed 4 stars and the drawers 2 stars, so I average the whole thing at 3.
The bed is incredibly sturdy, and is put together using both those turn-lock things like Ikea furniture, and glued dowels. They even include a bottle of wood glue for gluing the dowels in. The platform is thoroughly supported around all four sides and across the middle. We got this bed for our four-year-old daughter, but I tried laying on it myself (I weigh 280 pounds), and it is absolutely sturdy. My only complaint might be that they used a cheaper grade of particle board that is inevitably going to flake and fall apart. I think we will be lucky to get five years out of this bed. That is not bad for the price, but I would have been more pleased if they used a higher grade MDF instead of the cheap particle board.
The drawers in this thing dont show anywhere near the engineering or sturdiness of the bed. It seems they were an afterthought! The drawer faces are held on by cheap plastic jigs, and the drawer bottoms are just a thin 1/4 laminated particleboard sheet that are sure to come apart. I will be surprised if the drawers last a year.
So, I expect we will get one year out of the drawers, after which we will toss them and just keep storage bins underneath the bed, and probably another four years out of the bed.
Decent sturdy bed, cheap drawers
