When I first got it and tried to put together, I was unable to. After reading alot of the reviews I got a bunch of different tips on how to do it. The instructions says not to use power tools but I had to. I used my drill bit set to make the holes in those 4 little sticks a little bigger. After I made those holes bigger I screwed in the screws all the way in before putting them on to screw in the stool, to make sure they can screw all the way in. After I took the screws out I put them back in the stool and was able to screw them in easy. And those little buttons to cover the holes were unable to stay in. So I used a hammer to make sure they stayed in. So far it has worked and stool is good to go. If it wasnt so hard to put together, it would have gotten a higher rating. But you will need a hammer, and power drill bit. Even though instructions say no power tools needed
