Gorgeous, Sturdy, Made-In-USA, no foundation needed
I dont think theres a better frame on . Much better for your back than cheap metal-grid platform frames, plus you support people with dollars.
Took me less than an hour to assemble, all the wood and hardware seems like it will last decades.
It is unfinished, so you will see some machine marks, maybe a couple splinters, and natural, unstained, unsealed wood I asked directly if the wood needed to be sealed; they responded within a day to tell me the wood is kiln dried, meaning you can leave it unfinished and it will last as-is.
Makes for a fun project, though!
I thought the poplar wood was gorgeous, so it just needed sanding and topcoat, no staining. Before assembly, I sanded the rails, legs, and headboards with 180 grit sandpaper, sealed it with three coats of water-based polyurethane topcoat, and finished with 400 grit wet sanding. Turned out beautiful!
When assembled, without slats, its sturdy enough to carefully lift, and light enough to move into position by oneself.
The slats are numerous and less than two inches apart, which means you can use this without a mattress foundation.
